Does it come with a registered version of the software?

No way. Registered versions of vag-com cost 300-400 quid! You have to make it work through 'alternative sources'

I would imagine they would be the same Pip. With the way that it advertises that cable on that link. It looks very universal for both VW and Audi, without any reference to any size.

Have a look at your plug also, see if it looks similar?

its not that - its the fact that 9ns i beleive was where they switched to can bus engine management, which is a different system completely.

my vag com gear has just arrived, the exact same one as posted in a couple of links earlier in the topic, ODBII cable etc.

Ive installed the software and the drivers for the cable are all installed, theres a green light on the cable but when i try to scan anything it gives me this...

Image

ive tested it in the options menu, it seems to detect port 3 as the active one. The cable doesnt seem a very good fit in the port on the car, its got the right number of pins in the right places its just really tight. ignition was definately on. anyone got any ideas?

COM4 worked for me, and also try all USB slots on your PC. only one worked for me.
