How to install RClick Remote Central Locking Kits

Post by alexperkins »

Disclaimer - I do not take responsibility for any damage, injury, death or incidents that take place when you are following this guide to fit remote central locking into your vehicle. It is up to you whether you decide to go ahead.

Kits can be purchased from http://www.rclick.co.uk

There is now a new plug and play kit, which covers 6N and 6N2 models which you can buy here https://www.rclick.co.uk/shop/index.php ... er=product

This guide is for 6N2 polos only

For models other than a 6N2, please see the below link and the info at the bottom of this post

http://f.shortnd.it/ukp/vw_polo.pdf

To add to the above, for 9N/9N3/6R models, it is a 180 ohm resistor and not a 1000ohm resistor that is required

Right here goes...

You need to connect the following on the pump wiring to these wires on the RCL unit. The Pump is located in the boot behind the drivers side rear light cluster.

It is recommended to use scotch locks/splices like this to connect the wires:

Image

Where the first colour is the main colour, and the second is the thin stripe.

RCL wiring to PUMP wiring

RED to red/white (either of them)
BLACK to brown (either of them)
White to white/green
White/black to white/yellow

The above wires highlighted in orange can on some models be around the other way, so if lock unlocks and unlock locks just switch these around

On the RCL unit,

Connect yellow to RED and yellow/black to RED (just join them in on seperate Red clips)

On the back of the rear lights is the bulb holders- note you will need to extend the wire that goes to the passenger side by about half a metre

On the DRIVERS side, connect one of the brown wires to black/green
on the PASSENGER side, connect the other brown wire to black/white

Any other wires left over need to be insulation taped up and put out of the way.

EXTRA:
There is an 'optional' LED included on certain kits that will flash when the car is locked. You can use this if you so wish, but bear in mind you will have to extend the wiring as appropriate and join it properly to take it to the front, or parcel shelf, or wherever, and ensure you join the correct wires up so as not to damage the LED or the kit!

THE BELOW INFORMATION MAY NOT WORK FOR YOUR CAR - PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION

How to install window rollup when locking the car (courtesy of jacko7165):

Purchase a SPDT 4 Pin Automotive relay - Maplins sell them for a decent price. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=37526 N00AW ;)
Pins 86 & 87 of the relay connect to 12v+(this can be taken from the red/white at the pump)
Connect the green wire from your RClick kit to pin 85 of the relay
Connect pin 30 of the relay to the grey/red lock wire at the pump. This wire may be different depending on your car, so please check it first! (its likely to be White/Yellow)

Then all will work!

Any problems just PM me

For 9N/9N3/6R/6C models

You'll need to use the negative pulse outputs on the box - white and white black locking wires from the unit, yellow and black wires to earth.

The locking wire on the car is the solid blue wire on 6R/6C models, and is blue/white on 9N/9N3 located at pin 20 in the drivers footwell coming from the door, You'll need to put a 180 ohm resistor inline in the unlock wire from the control unit

Window rollup wire isnt needed

The only other wires to connect are the indicator wires on 9N/9N3 models

This is a great guide and I've just completed my installation, however I have a couple of observations. (Not wanting to to tread on anyones toes!!)

Firstly white to white/green and white/black to white/yellow were the other way around for mine (pressing lock on the remote unlocked it and vis-versa) - I guess this could be a quirk with different model years mine is a 2000 on an X plate.

Also there were two white/yellow (maybe one is yellow/white :? ) but I got it wrong to start with so for clarity it is the wire that comes off terminal 7 of the pump wiring.

Overall very simple to install.

Regarding the window roll up. Does that work directly from the R-Click Module for the remote central locking?

Or do i have to purchase the auto roll up module that is sold separately from R-Click?

Thanks

as long as your kit supports it, just add the wiring connections and relay as above (if necessary)

Are the kits from Rclick proving to be reliable? Anyone had any bad experiences with them? Just out of interest really, was thinking of getting one myself as the drivers side central locking on my 6N2 no longer works, and this may be a cheap solution!

Cheers

Ive had four maybe five kits now and never had any problems

Great value for a good quality kit.
