gti headlight split

Post by chapip »

Is it possible to remove the front of the gti headlight and replace it with new. The light works fine but the lense has an imperfection. Could a normal 6n2 lense be used if possible? Don't really want to fork out for a whole new unit if I can get away with it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes the front 6n2 casing is the same, You can remove them but you'll need a heat gun, flat head screwdriver and patience.

Heat the sealant up around the casing, then gently prise the cover off with the screw driver. It also helps to use a sharp knive to cut through the sealent. Just be carefuly not to damage the pastics around the casing with the screw driver.

The most common approach is a warm oven - a heat gun could boil and damage the plastic

A hairdryer might be a better approach!

Depends on how powerful your hairdryer is/ how lower setting the heat gun is on :P
