RNS315 with bluetooth kit.
RNS315 with bluetooth kit.
I have recently upgraded my RCD510 to the RNS315 and since this my TPK kit has not worked properly. The RNS has a built in module and can call/recieve calls fine but the noone can hear me when on a call. I have a microphone already installed from my TPK kit and I was just wondering how I could get the microphone to work on the RNS, or atleast get the TPK working. Even when my phone is just connected to the TPK and bluetooth is turned off on the RNS it won't work
Any suggestions?
In short: How can I get the microphone used on the TPK to work with the RNS? I don't know where there is a connector for it on the unit.

Your best to remove the TPK and get a compatible microphone from kufatec for the rns and go down that route
Re: RNS315 with bluetooth kit.
You need something like this: http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-microphone- ... id180.html

Thanks for the responses.
@alexperkins so would there be no way to get the TPK working with it? or use that mic?
@CNK where would that plug into mate? I don't know if there's any free ports and I wouldn't know where to hide it?

Is the TPK kit connected properly? It should just continue to work as it overrides the audio feed
That microphone plugs into the back of the RNS straight into the microphone input. The TPK uses a completely different mic.

Yes the TPK worked fine on my RCD310 and RCD510 but this one, because the "phone" button actually works it doesn't seem to like it

Yes i can see the issue now.
Youll get better bluetooth integration if you buy the microphone - it actually lives in the interior light assembly. I would be more inclined to go down that route if were you

Re: RNS315 with bluetooth kit.
Would that not be a dash-out job to get the wire up the A-Pillars and under the headlining?
do you not reckon I could use the one from the TPK or is that different connectors?

Re: RNS315 with bluetooth kit.
TPK has a 2mm headphone style socket - completely different
I wouldnt say so. Radio out, feed the wire into the right, remove the tray under the pedals, run it across, up the side, tuck it in behind the a pillar then into the headlining. Along the front and into the interior light
Would be a mornings work, though depends how comfortable you are with bits like that.

Did you try to remove the little tpk screen it clips into the small swivel stand, since in theory it would turn it off. then if it did work you could just hide it behind the radio

Re: RNS315 with bluetooth kit.
It won't work like that because the RNS315 defaults to its own bluetooth controller as standard. The only way to get it to work as the OP is expecting is to disable this function. When I had my 6R I too changed from a RCD310 with TPK to a RNS315 and bought the mic adapter from here, it comes in two parts which is the extension cable and the microphone itself, as Alex said, just remove the stereo, route it through the trim above the pedals, tuck it into the A Pillar (it is only held in by 4/5 metal clips) then feed it into the headlining, snap off the blanking plate in the map lights, clip the microphone in and connect it all back together. I also removed the drivers sun visor so I could grab the cable from the A pillar and push it through to the map lights. Be careful not to pull on the headlining with too much pressure as it can easily loose its shape. Hours work tops.Willni wrote:Did you try to remove the little tpk screen it clips into the small swivel stand, since in theory it would turn it off. then if it did work you could just hide it behind the radio
