Scratch marks

Post by DC_BS »

I had a go washing the motor yesterday, first was splashing it with buckets of clean water to loosen the grime and stuff, then mixed up some car shampoo and started to wash. Rinsed with more cold clean water to finish. As I went to use the chamois cloth to dry however I didn't soak it first, and now I think I've made some marks on the top of the car above the doors. I don't know if they're swirl marks or whatever they call it, but I can't seem to get rid of them.

I know there's several methods suggested like WD-40, toothpaste and stuff you can buy from places, but I don't want to make the problem even worse. Every time I wipe over it clears but then comes back and shows up all scaley.

Ok cool, will have a look for it. Should have known better than to scrape the body with a dry chamois cloth, such a dumbass!

I'm guessing I'll have to use it only after I've washed it again? i.e so don't apply it straight on

It needs to be as clean as possible before you use it :)

There were black marks all over the chamois cloth so I didn't give it enough of a deep clean! Its not been washed in a long time so some of the dirt is more stubborn than most, guess I have to put in more elbow grease!

I know people who wash their cars every week but I think that's a bit excessive? Though to be fair the period its been unwashed for 2 washes in a week would make up for it haha.
