MFSW correct buttons control module
Hi everybody
I've just installed a new MFSW on my Polo 6R Highline MY2010, following the guide posted on here.
The steering and the airbag are recently produced (October 2016), but we are talking about the 6R MFSW.
Unfortunately horn and buttons don't work (they're not even illuminated).
I checked the new wires I installed (+12V and LIN bus) and all is ok.
These are some part numbers:
BCM: 6R0 937 087 D
Steering: 1K8 419 091 BN MFQ
Airbag: 5K0 880 201 AE 81U
Airbag harness loom: 5K0 971 584 D
Buttons control module: 5K0 959 542 C
Because the airbag harness loom I have is specific for Polo produced from 23/07/2012 onward, I changed my slip ring and stalk switch with M.Y. 2014 ones:
- slip ring: 6R0 959 654
- stalk switch: 6R0 953 507 9B9 (without MFA buttons, since they are on the steering)
The problem persists: horn and buttons don't work.
After long searches on ETKA I've noticed that the Buttons control module I have seems wrong:
I have the 5K0 959 542 C, but I should have 5K0 959 542 B, according to ETKA.
This is a picture of the 5K0 959 542 C control module:
This is a picture of the 5K0 959 542 B control module:
They look different!
Do you think that changing the Buttons control module would fix my problem?
Or is the problem somewhere else?

Re: MFSW correct buttons control module
I cannot find it anymore in my PB box, but can you tell us the BCM part number and software version?
(or maybe full autoscan)

This is from the last autoscan I saved, before I changed the coding to activate the MFSW buttons (Byte 9, Bit 3: "Multi-Function-Steering-Wheel (MFSW) installed"):

Re: MFSW correct buttons control module
It should work with either of the two control modules.
We need a recent autoscan to evaluate the problem ...
Edit:
However, it seems that something is not well installed ... check the installation again. Power supply wire, LIN, conectors, etc...

Re: MFSW correct buttons control module
Problem fixed!
I checked again all the connections and I discovered that the new wire I installed for the LIN bus (T28a/16) was not correctly connected!
As soon as I made a good solid connection the horn and the buttons FINALLY started to work!
As always the cause of the problem was a very simple thing!
Here is a quick video I've just made:
Once again, thank you all for your help and support.
I want to take advantage of this topic to ask an information.
Is it normal that using the right buttons, nothing happens if I press the left or right selector?
Shouldn't it goes to the other sections (Audio, Settings, ecc.)?
It seems like I need to press and hold the up/down selector to move to the "home page" and then enter into another section (exactly like I had to do with my old stalk switch).

Thank you too, ciclo!
Yes, I decided to not remove the blue wrapper untill I would have fixed the problem!
By the way, the city is almost empty during summer and I really enjoy driving around.

Ahah, in reality we need the horn more than you think! It's full of crazy drivers, especially on motorcycles, that you need hundreds of eyes and it's really difficult to not get mad while your stuck in the traffic of Rome.iichel wrote:well he lives in italy, so probably never uses the horn anyway.

When I owned Italian cars it seemed as though the air horns came on with the ignition and only stopped when you turned it off.
Well it seemed like that!
