Passenger Seat Leak

Post by AidanPrice17 »

A few weeks ago, on my 2009 Polo 9n3 I noticed that the carpet on the passenger side was absolutely sodden, initially we thought it was a split in the rear washer pipe, but it continues to leak even after we fixed that. We can see a dribble of the leak coming from the front of the car and under the glove box, we eventually managed to take off the scuttle cover and get into where we thought the leak was from. one noticeable thing was that the car only leaked when it rained. After taking off the scuttle cover, we noticed ALOT of dirt and dry leaves but after a while of searching we couldn't seem to find any drainage holes that would pull the excess water out. We used a wire to fish out a good bit of dirt but even then, we couldn't seem to find any drainage holes, need help asap as the car is literally a pool and with winter coming and the rain in Wales the cars going to have to go if no solution is able to be found...

So with the wiper arms and scuttle removed you can see the two drains right in the very edge kind of a oblong slot stamped into the body which drains behind the arch liner( one either side) ,you can remove the bolt on bulk head panel to gain even better access and even the wiper linkage.
If debris and dirt have built up over many years of neglect water can enter through the cold air flap for the heating system.
