Central locking not working on any doors

I have a 3 door 2002 polo and when I unlock any of the two front doors it only unlocks that specific door via the key. All doors operate with the key but the central locking isn’t unlocking the other door when I operate it.

The car is a standard key only and doesn’t use a FOB.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction as to what has failed? I have had a good look online but I’m struggling to find an answer.

I'd start with the fuses

Does the central locking work from the button inside the car ?

Do you have central locking at all?
Does your boot unlock when opening either frontdoors with the key?

Thanks for the replies everyone. The boot does not unlock when unlocking the doors and when I went to check the fuse there wasn’t one in the correct slot. Have I been a numpty and not realised I bought a car without it haha?

I also tried putting a fuse in the slot to no avail*

Look on the drivers door for a little switch next to the dooropener.
It has a key symbol and a car with 1 door open on it
If that is not present than you have a car without central locking
