I was finally able to review/study this thread with the ETKA and images on the net (somewhat confusing due to poor clarity).
It was just an incompatibility issue with the C ring you installed at the beginning.

I bought the 2 rings of the F version along with the 2 stalks suitable for my Golf 'FL' (mk 7.5) from the beginning, and once everything was coded, I did not have any problems related to the operation of the heated steering wheel. I remember that together with the ETKA I had to look at many images on the net (all possible ring/stalk sets) to decide that the right ring was the F version.
Everything that can be coded works perfectly (100%), that is, both through the button on the multifunction steering wheel and in the infotainment system (automatic -recommended, perfect-, heating levels, ON/OFF).You can see it in the videos I made in my thread.

The most interesting thing about this thread 'for the rest of the world' and MQB 'FL' models is that there is compatibility between the F rings and the original stalks, that is, that the heated steering wheel will work without changing the original stalks... hmm... in the same way you did it (NOT 100%?).

This is useful to know as I can attempt to sell the "spare" ring now. And it's nice to be able to contribute to the knowledge base on the F compatibility.

Once question I did have, you fitted a wheel with push buttons to one of yours, what "heated wheel type" did you choose for this in HVAC 08?

I have MIB3 and matched coding seen elsewhere to choose the "LRH Gen2 mod longpush" With this wheel there is no on screen button or control. I haven't tried switching it to any of the other wheel types as I'm terrified to touch it after my ordeal. But I did notice when messing about that "LRH Gen2" gave the on screen button. Is this what you selected? I assume I can't use this?

Thanks, once the PTSD subsides I'll have a play with the steering wheel types.

Hi Mike.. did you ever wonder why 5Q1 "c" slipring didn't work for you?

As per Ciclo’s post the assumption is it wasn’t compatible and that software version F is required.

Happy to sell it to you if you like 😂😂😂

My wheel came from a T-roc so I’d suggest getting an F version if you can. Use the sheet I shared prior to identify an assembly with the F spring then search for that code as well. I picked mine up for £60!!

It doesn't matter from where the wheel comes from!

I did my own internal research on sliprings before you posted your problem. This 5Q1 C slipring is peculiar due to the fact that, it was installed with combi switch in which Cruise control buttons are installed in stalks ( DE/DG/DH etc..) and not on wheel buttons.

5Q1 B/F/K/L.. heated these sliprings are compatible with combi switches in which Cruise buttons are from wheel 😊

Interesting. The cruise functions on wheel worked fine, just not the heat.

Lesson learned.
