So i ordered one complete with housing , lifted bonnet an it is totaly different!
One on car is full metal( found similar pic on ebay)one arrived has plastic housing(see pics)
Chassis number is WVWZZZAWZKU013663

Have tried DLinker but says chassis number not recognised?

Well that is certainly a bit of a problem. The 04E121600CB you got looks like it is for DFNA engine. Found multiple numbers for the part you are looking for. The 05E121111AB does look like most probably right but I can't say that for sure. The part number on the black box will only lead you to the control unit because it can be bought separately but if you are able to check the other partnumber on the metal housing that should lead you right to it. :)

Alloy bodied water pumps, so the penny has finally dropped - plastic is not the future, currently!

After only 18k miles it looks like although its an alloy body the seals are still as rubbish.
Yes i agree that looks like the latest part number for thus pump.
Looks like i need to call VW as no new ones are showing as in stock online and any aftermarket ones are coming from the eu aswell.
Looking pricey compared to the plastic bodied ones.
First time i was aware that 2 different 1 litre cylinder engines were fitted to the 18 plate polos.
Going off the reg number all the inline parts places pointed to the plastic body versions.
Edit. Above part number seems to be for whole assembly.
05E121042 E or F seems to be number inside pump, searching for that also brings up the units complete with actuator motor on them aswell, all seem the same product but with different revisions, will strive to get the latest version.
