forum accronyms

Post FORUM SPECIFIC questions here: Such as, "HELP, I can't keep logged in for more than one session" etc... Not general help questions such as "my car won't start". You get the idea?

more specific and less internetty ones (as we've covered pretty much all of them)

VAG - a lady's... er... volkswagen-audi group ;)
GSF - german swedish 'n' french car parts, a good-value bits emporium. Staff are generally less retarded than halfords but not always!
ARB - anti roll bar
SPI / MPI - single and multi point injection
M6 - private, gated-off test track (can be known by many names, e.g. M1, A38, B4162..)
CL - "comfort line" appartently, though may as well be "cheap level" ;) - the vanilla spec level, for Volkswagen and several other marques. One step above the Fox (or "C") poverty line.
GT - grand tourer, byword for a mildly sportier version of a CL. In this case most particularly the mk3 polo with a more tuned up engine and a couple extra bits of spec. Closely related to the GTi in most terminology, but in VWs case this stands for an out and out sport variant.
G40 - a GT type polo but even more sportified and possesed of a "G-lader", a supercharger with spiral-shaped internal vanes reminiscent of that letter. The 40 is for it's diameter in millimetres.
PSD - pitstop developments - another forum mainly devoted to the tuning and modding of G40s
TD / TDi - Turbo diesel (direct-injection)
ECU - electronic control unit - simplistic microprocessor driven black box that controls various aspects of the car, in polos it's present from the mk3 generation onwards (e.g. ignition timing, fuel mixture, idle speed, over-run cutoff, rev limiter, power limiting to avoid engine damage or high emissions with poor fuel (with a knock sensor), guages and indication lights, fault logging 'n' so on). Houses and makes use of the "chips" aka "ROMs" that can be swapped out or reprogrammed to alter the timing and fuelling maps for a smoother, more powerful experience.
BTW - by the way
MSN / AIM / YM / ICQ* - microsoft network (messenger), yahoo instant messenger, yahoo messenger, ICQ (i seek you) ... various computer programs that allow one person to communicate with another or a group over the internet in real-time, enabling the swapping of questions, hints, tips, jokes, and all-round annoyance easily and at high speed.
MOT - Ministry of Transport annual vehicle test. The Fear for many motorists. An half-hour annoyance and small wallet-ache for the average polonaut ;)
GATSO - not actually an acronym, but an abbreviation of the name of a once-famous french rally driver from the 50s and 60s, Msr. Gatsonides. The radar-based, camera-linked speed calculating and recording equipment he developed to help him raise his game was poached by evil governmental moneyrakers and slapped into roadside piggy banks in order to raise stealth taxes out of bogus safety drives. Keep your eyes peeled.

... more as i think of them (?)

* also IRC (usually via mIRC) - internet relay chat - but this is not as popular as it used to be ... the average IRC session takes up a lot of screen space, looks like you're arguing with MSDOS, and can be about as hard to set up
