Well the leakage is in the lower regions. That sensor is on top isn't it? Ofcourse the new seal could be leaky as well
If it wasnt properly cleaned before applying or missed a spot...
I will have a look

I know, but i had the exact same problem and couldn't believe my eyes when i unplugged the wire connection of the sensor and saw oil dripping. Troubled me for months where the f**k this oil was coming from. Worth a check

Still haven't looked at oil leaking, sorry. Will use your comments when I have the time.

Got alarm issue which bothers me more :). It just goes off whenever it wants. Have removed ultrasonic sensor and hope it won't wake up the neighborhood tonight :)

Disconnecting the sensor fixed the problem. Since the age of the car I don't really mind having no alarm.

Guys, do you know the function of the secondary lambda/oxygen sensor? If it's bad, does it influence the way the engine runs?

Yes it can cause fuelling issues

Can also play with the EGR

I didn't know our GTIs had any EGR. Never seen egr parts near the engine.

While doing transmission work yesterday at the garage, we found out that my rear lambda was unscrewed!
I'll keep in mind to see if there's any difference now. Didn't get any warning lights though

No egr related stuff on my car. Great.

So I ordered a rear lambda sensor. Original Bosch, 67 euro incl connector, wiring. :)

I know now what the problem was with the front lambda sensor. As you know it was soldered directly to the main wiring loom. But the thing is that each sensor comes with a unique resistor inside it's connector, based on some calibration they do at the factory. So without it's connector it's not producing the right signals.

All remnants of the jerking problems are now gone. :D
Took only two years to fix.
Ok it has an issue with running on 3 cyl when it's freezing but I guess it's a compression issue. Takes only one minute. It has new belts, tensioner, rollers and waterpump (was also leaking).
Now 150.000 miles on it.

The oil leakage was due to a cracked crankcase breather box. There was also a coolant leakage somewhere around the thermostat housing where all hoses come together. New sealing rings installed no more leaking.
New brake pads and discs installed, all filters replaced and spark plugs. We're ready to go for another year.

Did a compression test also, 3 cylinders had 13.5 bar one is getting lazy at 11.5 bar.
Don't know if you guys know 'bar'.
