Arghhhh , I was round a friends house and misjudged a parking bollard.
I feel like a right idiot, and dead upset
Would you advise trying to repair that myself? or do you think its beyond the pulling out and polishing. I just want it back to normal so I can stop beating myself up about it . How much do you reckon it would cost to put it right?

The fact that it's creased, rather than just dented will make life difficult. First thing to check is whether or not the paint has cracked. If it has, then that kinda answers your question...
You could try chipsaway etc., but, again, with the creasing, and size, I'm not too sure -- perhaps others know a simple solution.
Deek.

Hell I know its a long shot but see if you can get the dealer to do it as part of some compensation for p**sing you around with your options and stuff. It probably wont happen but its worth a try. I know someone who got Road Angel for free aswell a few free services from the dealer that p**sed him around
Oh yeah, and that was really unlucky, those bollards can be a right !@£$&

I'd just get the local bodyshop to do it, it will prob need re-painting though as this happened to mine(but it was my mate who reversed into it!)
You should get a load of compo back from VW or even take it back as it isn;t what you ordered.
They prob just forgot about it and then realised when u asked for a delivery date and got one out of stock that sort of matched your spec!

Took it to vw body shop, who say its going to cost about 600 quid to put right . They pointed out that there was damage to the frame just beneath the door aswell, including paint flaking off..
I have a 400quid excess on my insurance, and in anycase, really want to build up my no claims so might just take it as a very very very expensive lesson the the art of parking between bollards.
Dead gutted, I just want me polo back to its original condition.

Try the salvage yards there may be a few 5 door silver 9n's around it's a popular choice.
You may be able to get a nearly new door for what £150?? maybe.
Try these:

http://www.city-breakers.com/
http://www.vwaudispares.co.uk/
http://hills.blue-sock.com/
http://www.vws.me.uk/
http://www.nirro.co.uk/
http://www.vwaudibreakers.co.uk/
http://www.247spares.co.uk/vw-parts/
http://www.vwcarparts.net/
Plus ask a few different garages, even different vw dealers prices vary quite a lot, although £600 does sound about right as long as they do a good job.
I would advise against going through the insurance no only will you lose your no claims but they will pick you up on the fact you've claimed for the next 5 years and you could end up paying out 1000's extra.

If you use one of the find a part services, a word of warning about a company called BVS in manchester, I ordered something off them, cancelled when I realised they ripped me off on price, they wouldn't refund, took ages to get a refund off them through card services. then someone I know ordered off them, they sent wrong item and point blank refused to sort it out.
