Beep on remote lock/unlock volume

Post by SamY »

I booked my polo in to my dealer a few days ago for a leaking water bottle. While it was in, I asked them to programme in the beeping on remote lock/unlock'ing and the auto locking over 10mph.

I like the auto locking feature, but the beeping on lock and unlock is very loud - has anyone else had their beeping enabled?

No I really don't like the beep when you lock/unlock your doors feature so glad I don't have it! Also I don't like the autolock feature, is'nt it kind of dangerous? What if you have an accident and need to get out of the car does it auto unlock?

AFAIK it locks at over 10mph so I'm guessing it unlocks under 10mph?

nope on mine it locks after 10mph and stays locked even when stood still, in case anyone wants to try and get in the car when stood at traffic lights etc!
2 pulls of the interior door handle and the door opens!

I dont know if its the same on the ibiza but, on the polo there is a switch which you can press that locks the doors anyway so is'nt this auto lock feature kind of pointless? lol

how much did the alarm chirp cost you? And can you enable it on any mk6 polo? Well mine as a manufacter fit alarm, the ones with the remote keys, so would this be possible for mine? i dont really care how loud it is, just want a audible warning when locking / unlocking

auto lock is not dangerous, if you have an accident the crash sensor will automatically open the doors for the fireman or the paramedic to get you out.
Its there to stop the scallies knicking your boot/trunk contents when you are sat at the lights.

Does anybody know the login and activation codes for autolock and chirp features?

Autolock is cool! As Dan say's it's easy to open, just two pulls on the door handle or press the unlock button.

I want to get mine to beep when i lock unlock - i wonder if they can turn the volume down if it is too loud?

I don't know if it is because of different countries, but no polo here beps when lockin/unlocking and I thing this is not a feature enabling thing.
As for mine, I've programmed mine to auto lock and it unlocks when I take the key of the switch, or by pressing the door unlock button or by pulling the handle twice (this unlocks mechanically only the one door)

there is a switch on mine too! but i find i use it when i'm waiting somewhere after someone has already got out (so therefore the doors would be unlocked)
i don't find autolock pointless at all! i found it weird at first and a pain at first when u went to get out but i soon got used to it! its funny watching people try to open the door after one pull from the inside and then sitting there coz they think the door is broken!!

does anyone else have a self locking boot? by this i mean, after u've opened ur boot, does it lock itself once closed after about 10 secs??

The door thing isn't funny when I have had people nearly ripping the door handle off to get out. I forget about passengers as the door unlocks for me when i take the key out.

My boot lock's it's self too :>

Wonder if VW would do the lock/unlock thing free for me (being their fave customer  ) so i can see if i like it or not.

They did both programming things for free, while they had it in to replace the water bottle and pump. My local dealer didnt know about the beeping code and had to hunt for it, but once they knew what to do - it was a few second job, I cant imagine they would charge for something like that.

The autolock features is useful - my girlfriends A-class has it. The driver door unlocks when you turn the engine off. It is annoying that the passenger side doors dont unlock at the same time because it is confusing to people the whole first pull to unlock, then 2nd to open the door.

The beeping on remote lock and unlock is a nice touch, but definately on the loud side, but I've got used to it now. Very useful when your hunting for your car in a carpark and cant see the indicator lights - just keep locking it and follow the beeps.
