Any Guides/Pics Anywhere For Changing Front Shocks

Post by Docbooze »

Got a mk3 1.05 Genesis and gonna have to do this job myself as Garages will cripple me with labour charges. Just wanna know:-

1.What tools are an absolute must?

2.Haynes manual is so vague , what are the differnet nuts to undo?

3.Can the top mounts be undo without the VW tool?

4.Any step by step guides with pics anywhere on the web?

Cheers for any help/advice

it can be a bit of a swine without the correct tools! the top mount can be undone if you have a small socket and a deep reaching spanner!

the other real tricky one would be the steering arm nut! the nut is attached to a tappered sleeve which is within the strut! the only thing stopping the sleeve from turning is the friction when its tight! so back off the bolt and if the bolt is a tight fit, it'll turn the sleeve! its a pain!
