Cupra sold, Progress thread - Z3M - Custom 3 piece BBS

Post by shantybeater »

Hey peeps, well i've moved away from the VAG scene altogether, decided rather than spanking 2k on engine work on the Ibiza (that id never see again) i'd go for something slightly more 'sensible'. I imagine its not to everyones taste but here's some pics:
Previous cars:

125bhp Polo gti 1.6 16v

Image

250bhp Ibiza Cupra 1.8T 20v

Image

330bhp Ibiza Cupra 1.8T 20v

Well here she is after about 6 hours cleaning/polishing on the weekend, havent even touched the interior yet!...

Really pleased with the bodywork condition, and even the exhaust tips came up well after some hard rubbing of autosol!

Brief spec:

- 2 Owners from new
- 44k
- Completely standard (apart from rims refurbished in arctic silver)

Bodywork wise this car is silly clean, i'm pretty sure its had a total respray recently (or a blow over). Only real bad point is the car is not idling well at all...and there is a distinct lack of power low down & high up the rev range, after some looking about it sounds like one of the exhaust solenoids has died, or dare i say it the vanos is fooked...Hopefully she will be up & running properly soon..certainly sounds the part!

lol alright tom enjoy it while you can! i've been fastest for long enough...thought i'd let you have a turn

looked up turboing the car, silly silly fast if you do..for the people that have done it, most people seem to be running 700-1000whp (check youtube - m3 turbo)..big money though, and its frightening enough with the loose back end..

cool though: https://www.youtube*.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=e ... E0UVAImH-w

Well, at least you chose the M and not the wimpy 1.9 version that the Z3 came in. I mean, why?????! Silly Germans...

Any issues judging parking and manoeuvres now that you have a huuuuuuge long bonnet in front of you?

adam - thanks pal, miss the cupra already, especially the raw power hidden in an ibiza...its worth it though to cruise with the top down :)

Si - yeah it's 321bhp straight out of the m3, it's just not AS quick as my cupra and doesn't feel like you are going that fast at all, much more civilized! We'll see how she is when she's running properly...

Tim - cheers for the honesty, I knew it wouldn't be everyones cup of tea, I just love it to bits, so much potential and rare as fook!

well I let the cupra go really cheap at mates rates(prob about a grand under it's worth) and managed to get this for 8500, worth easily 9k+ though for the mileage/condition it's in :)

Cheers andy :)

Took it into the garage today to get checked out by a specialist, came out with a clean bill of health apart from the idling which he is pretty sure is a 'massive air leak'. It's getting checked out the saturday after next, he also informed me it sounded really flat because of the leak & it will be running well under what it should be till its fixed...

Cheers mate, I tend to agree normal z3's were never my thing either but always had a soft spot for the M Roadster
