OK thanks Alex, have been tearing my hair out with the rear wiper too.
Supplied a direct battery current to the motor and it works fine . The other "power" wire is the self parking supply and that works fine too, but having had a little fiddle with trying to get power through from the relay area under the dash, it seems there must be another break in that wire somewhere, ( other than the one I found within the rubber boot in the hatch boot lid area )
Managed to bust a few fuses so have had to give up on the plan for the time being. I can see you wringing your hands at the amateurish antics !
Ref the ABS, I have bought a spare second hand pump complete with electronics , so had hoped to send that to you for inspection and for you to work your magic on it ?

You may have more than one break
Do some multimeter testing to see if it’s an earthing fault or a positive feed fault
Sure, get to 10 messages and PM me and we can get that sorted

Just wanted to express my gratitude to @alexperkins and everyone else who contributed to this thread.
I successfully fixed the issue on my 2001 Polo 6N2 with the same procedure as the one mentioned in the OP post.
Here is the picture of bad solder joint resulting in "Signal out of specification" error code:

Got your reply ok now and a PM sent. Old unit is split and wondering if one of the multipins in the bigger plug is causing a problem as the third one in from the top left shows no signs of scratching caused by being plugged into the female receptor. If thats not making a contact could that possibly be where the problem lies?

Sorry, one more question about splitting the unit. Mine seems to have a set of small clips all around the controller so is it not possible to open it by prising the 13 little clips open all at once ?

Yes, but very gently. Those clips will VERY easily snap off due to the type of plastic they use

I am vasilis from Athens Greece
I was fix it my pump fault by folowing your instructions I weld the two conectors inside the abs modul.
But works perfect for one day.. and the second day start an other problem..
And light on again and in low speed under 20km and my foot on brake pedal
until the car stops and the pedal kicks me ..
I connect vcds and the fault I read is left front sensor problem... I change with a new one But starts again..
I was check the abs rotor... is clean and in perfect condition.
Please help me if you know what is this?
