Time for an Oil change

Post by thebadun »

Hi,

I want to change the oil in my car as I've decided to do it every 5000 from now on. The car has done 55500 now, so is a bit up on miles, last change at 51000, and we're going to Cornwall (from Oxford) on Tuesday, so seems like a good time to do it.

I've got the correct oil from the VW dealer, filter (Genuine VAG) and sump plug.

Has anyone done this? Is there anything I should know? Also, where is the filter, haven't really had a good look, but if I do will I be able to spot it?

Cheers

ok i mthink its either a 17 or 19 mm sump plug and on your engine the filter is tucked in between the alternator and the exaust manifold and its a pain to get to! youllneed to get the engine cover off which nis done by removing the 2 hidden 10 mm bolts and pulling

Thanks for the advice.

Actually did it on Sunday before seeing your post, so trial and error was used mainly. Found the filter and removing the engine cover would have definately made it easier. Other than that, wasn't too difficult.
