New member in Germany/gearbox problem
Hi All, i´m based in Germany and have just become the proud (!) owner of a ´96 1.0 litre 3 door basic spec. hatchback. I also have an ´01 Seat Alhambra, before that 2 Passat´s. I do like my VAG cars but they do have their problems!! The Polo has only got about 83k miles on it so not been far in it´s 20 years, however it´s got `the´ gearbox problem. I bought it with some rear end accident damage as a project car, but the gearbox problem has knocked me back a lot. It makes a terrible noise in neutral and when running, and even just pushing it back and forth, in neutral with engine off, there´s this grinding type noise. Can anyone please tell me if it´s a repair job or am i going to have to look for a replacement `box. Any help and info greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I would look at getting a replacement box. Sounds like it has internal damage
