joining the GTI fold

Post by MczZippy »

So, after owning my current Skoda Citigo for the past 3 years, I decided I needed something a bit more practical..
I Ordered a Polo GTI from Robinsons Norwich who have given me an amazing deal :)

I have gone for the following spec:
DSG
5 Door
Flash Red
Alcantara interior (inc heated seats)
Sport pack with DCC
Convenience Pack (inc light and sight)
Parking pack (sensors, cruise & camera)
Discover sat nav
Car net app connect
Armrest
Airbag deactivation

Just got the wait for it to be built and arrive!

Will hopefully get some wind deflectors for when it arrives!

So, VW build tracker has just update to say my GTI is on its way to the port! I'm ever so slightly excited!

I've joined as well!
Placed the order mid August. Dealer informed me car was built mid September so hope to hear something next week with a bit of luck.

Almost the same spec except I've ordered a white one and swap the Alcantara seats for a sunroof. Couldn't make our minds up on the colour initially, then the wife commented that she thought the red strip and side GTI badges showed up more on a white one. Who am I to argue so decision made!

The only thing I debated long and hard over was whether to go for a manual or DSG. Decided on the DSG in the end. Current car is S-Tronic, which is the same thing and very happy with. Maybe I'm getting lazy in my old age! Hope I won't regret the reduction in torque and in-gear performance. Probably once you've got the car its a case of what you never had you never miss!

£24500? Yikes! You can get a golf gti via carwow for that kind of money!

Nevertheless, the polo gti is a cracking car and you'll love it. I personally prefer it to the golf gti.

I did look at a golf gti, but to run it as a company car the emissions have to be below 130g/km, hence the polo, also I paid under £20k for mine :D

Ordered mid August. Mine arrived in UK 14 October but does not appear to have moved yet :( . The tracker says about a week to the dealer from the port. Excuse is they are waiting for a full transporter load for the area. Bit frustrated as my car sold privately at the weekend with the expectation of delivery this week.

Exactly how much under £20k? ;-)

I got a really good deal on mine but the only upgrades i went for was the Alcantara seats and arm rest. Needless to say I'm slightly jealous of all the uogrades you've gone for, but i woukd imagine mines a lot cheaper, unless you've got an in redible deal!

About £19.5k (can't remember exact numbers) apparently it's in Santander port awaiting a boat. I believe it goes from there to Emden (for quality control) then onto the UK. How long did others have to wait from build to delivery?

I didn't realize you could check on it as people have said. I ordered mine and had to wait the longest 3 months of my life. Be sure to let us know what you make of the App Connect feature. Still wondering whether to upgrade on mine.

When you know the name of the ship, track it to the UK port. Don't believe VW if they tell you that it is going to Emden. They insisted that mine was but it wasn't. Remember that the Captain of the ship has a better idea of where his ship is going than VW :-)

That's 20% discount. Thought I was doing well at 19%!!
