6R or 6c?

Post by padr3 »

Hi
I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2014 1.4 TDI SE BLUEMOTION POLO. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW CAN I TELL IF ITS A 6C OR A 6R?
I'M LOOKING FOR A WRC STYLE ADDITIONAL REAR SPOILER - ANY IDEAS WHERE TO GO FOR A RUBBER ONE AS OPPOSED TO FIBREGLASS? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS, PETE

I think, 6C BlueGT has got the same rear bumper like 6R. Could you put a photo of your rear bumper?

If you want something like me: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=67705&p=514074#p514074 :?:

You need Polo 6R BlueGT/GTI/Street WRC rear bumper + 6R WRC Street gloss black diffuser.

Bumpers from 6R fit to 6C ;)

The diesel engines in the 6R were the 1.2 and 1.6 units, which were replaced by the 1.4 unit when the 6C facelift model was launched. As your car is a 1.4 diesel, it should be the 6C.

The lower front grille on the 6C is different to the 6R model. Yours should be the same as the models in the current Polo model brochure with a horizontal chrome strip that runs along the top of the centre section of the lower grille, which drops down below the fog lights (link to brochure below). Infotainment units were also upgraded when the 6C was launched and yours should be the same style as the ones shown in the current brochure. There are also subtle differences in the design of the headlamp units and rear light clusters between the 6C and 6R models.

Sorry, don't know tbe answer to your question on the rear spoiler. As far as I'm aware VW don't make an OEM rubber WRC style rear spoiler, so if you do find one, depending upon who it's made by, there's a chance the quality of fit and finish may not be up to OEM standard.

OEM Glossy black difusser is only in 6R WRC Street.

This diffuser fit also to 6R GTI/BlueGT bumper, so if you want OEM diffuser you need to change bumper to 6R GTI/BlueGT/WRC Street.
Handles in bumpers are the same.

The 6c is the 2014 facelift / refresh of the 6R Polo that was introduced in 2009. When it was 'launched' in 2014 was marketed by VW as the new Polo but was essentially a mild makeover. To the uninitiated, the differences between the 6R and 6C aren't that easy to spot.

The main differences between the facelifted 6c and the 6r are some minor cosmetic changes to the exterior (bumpers, the internal design of the headlight units and rear light clusters), tweaks to the interior (new touch screen infotainment systems, and I believe there were minor changes to the instrument clusters for some trim levels). There were also mechanical changes such as the introduction of an automatic post-collision braking system and the replacement of some of the engines used in the 6R with new units; 1.2 and 1.6 diesels were replaced by a 1.4 diesel, and the 1.4 twin charged petrol unit used in the 6R GTI was replaced by a 1.8 turbo.

6R = BCM PQ25 (like Ibiza 6J, Audi A1, Skoda Rapid, Skoda Fabia, VW Vento and some Jetta models)

6C = BCM MBQ (like Golf mk7, Audi A3 mk3, TT mk2, Passat mk8, Tiguan mk2, Touran mk2 etc.)

Indeed. The Polo 6C is a facelifted version of the 6R, the chassis has remained mainly unchanged.
The big changes are in the electrics, a new range of engines and some small and medium accents on the styling (lights, bumpers, interior).
