Cheers.
Some guy called Hugo in the Netherlands. Was hard work finding someone that could do an exact reef blue colour match.

Gave her the winter clean and trying autofinesse spray ceramic. Claims three months durability, very easy to use and used very little. Given good initial gloss and beading.

Looks good. I’ll be interested to hear how the durability of the spray ceramic holds up over the winter.lancslad1985 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 9:23 am Gave her the winter clean and trying autofinesse spray ceramic. I wish I had some indoor facilities large enough for car cleaning at this time of year like you have. I took advantage of the ‘warm’ (relatively speaking ) weather earlier this week and gave mine a long overdue wash - outdoors. I think it was the dirtiest it has been since I’ve owned it (nearly 28 months). It took me around four hours to do what was basically a routine wash, although it did include a good rinse down of the underbody and wheel arches with a high pressure hose to get rid of the salt. Cleaning the bits that aren’t really seen also form part of my regular car washing routine (e.g. the wheel barrels and backs of the spokes, brake callipers, inside the exhaust tips, inside the fuel filler flap, wheel arch liners, under bonnet etc.) and those bits accounted for probably 25% of the four hours spent washing and drying.
It looks good at the moment as I’ve not used it since it was cleaned, but that’ll soon change when I next venture out .

I will let you know how it gets on @srgtd. I’m very lucky as that garage is our works garage - one of the perks of working for a company that makes car care products! Otherwise I’d be the same as you.

How I would love to have an enclosed covered space like above for washing and detailing. Paintwork looks fabulous like red Chrome !

3 Hours of cleaning later...
Still very happy with this car, doesn't look bad for almost 5 years old.

Looks really good and well cared for - much better than some cars half its age whose owners entrust their car washing duties to the scratch and swirl hand wash places. Nice to see it’s not just me that cleans the wheel arch liners and brake callipers as part of a normal maintenance wash (I also clean the inner black surface of the exhaust pipes as well as the chrome outer surface , but don’t tell anyone ).Flashredpolo wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 1:26 pm 3 Hours of cleaning later...

Gave mine the 3 hour treatment last week - it certainly needed it; it was probably as dirty as it’s ever been. It’s been relatively dry weather-wise since I washed it so it’s stayed remarkably clean. I’m planning on giving mine ‘the works’ in the springtime when the weather gets a bit warmer; decontamination, wash and dry, machine polish, wax or sealant, seal wheels, dress tyres and black plastic exterior trim pieces, clean windows inside and out, vacuum interior, dress interior plastics. That little lot will probably be spread over three days, so I’m thankful I have a garage I can put the car away in at the end of each day’s work. I’m not getting any younger and after machine polishing I ache for a couple of days in places I didn’t even know existed! . That’s why I don’t get my machine polisher out too often.

Looking very good for a 5 year old car. Well done.
If really anal (like me). You also take your wheels off the car a couple of times a year and clean/polish the inside of the wheels.
Also a chance to inspect the condition of the inside of the wheel/tyre. Found a HUGE sidewall bulge once on the inside of a front tyre. Totally invisible without taking the wheel off.
That's just me though

Thanks for the compliments, I'm planning a big spring time clean also. I bought a long brush for the arch liners and it worked a treat. Also bought an angled lance for the pressure washer to get right in the wheel arches. Was surprised how much mid and debris it can collect over a short period of time

Re: Polo AW Photo Gallery
I’ve been tempted a few times to try an up! GTI. I dare say they’re a fun little car to drive around town and on local journeys, but I’m not sure I’d want to do a very long journey in one.Flashredpolo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 11:35 am Found an Up! GTI to park next to. Always liked them

Seeing your GTI parked next to the up! Shows just how much cars have ‘grown’ in size over the years. The up! is a similar size to the mk1 Golf and the AW model Polo is pretty much the same size as a mk4 Golf. Images from www.carsized.com; a website where you can compare sizes of different cars.
Here’s how the Golf has grown; mk1 superimposed over the mk8; And here’s the AW model Polo superimposed over a mk4 Golf. You can hardly see the image of the Golf - just the tips of the front and rear bumpers and the slightly steeper angle of the tailgate; And here’s how the up! compares to the AW model Polo;
