The lights work the same way as the old Rotary light switch, except that with this new Rotary light switch you cannot activate the front and rear fog lights from the parking light position, which is a legal condition (where I live ).
Doing some research on the internet in order to expand my knowledge, I find the following ways in which the lights that were previously the front fog lights are called:
- All weather lights.
- Poor weather lights.
- Bad weather lights.
... what a disaster!
⛈🌧🌦🌥🌤☀...
Something that may be bad/poor weather for you may be a wonderful weather for me. Please, try not to parameterize my brain with what is considered habitual/normal or standardized, thanks! ...
The lighting point/s of these 'All Weather Lights' are depending on the type of Headlight and its components (bulbs or LED/s).

Due to a huge lack of information, I don't know if my 8IU LED headlights will be able to handle these 'All weather lights'.
Could it be through the Static Cornering lights on my 8IU headlights?
As you know, my wife's golf has front fog lights, and also 'Plus' static cornering lights (on both 8IU headlights and front fog lights). viewtopic.php?p=582843#p582843
So I code to know what happens:
Code: Select all
09 Adaptation (SA 31347):
[LO]_Allwetterlicht: [VN]_installed
4B coding:
[LN]_all_weather_light: [VN]_enabled
+ 4B Basic Settting

Now, where I live, temperatures between 39ºC and 45ºC are reached daily, so I don't know if the All-weather lights would work properly.
I'll go thinking of finding some enlightening cloud:
... though I settle with the nice/cute new symbol on the NEW Rotary Light Switch.

Finaly and after some tests, in the BCM Adaptation I do not configure the static cornering lights that are included in my Matrix 8IU headlights as All-weather lights because I like their operation better as predictive static cornering lights, and because my Golf 7.5 already have front fog lights, that they also have the static cornering lights function.
But the main reason to not activate them is that the dedicated LEDs can reach high operating temperatures inside the headlights, which will be reflected in the diagnosis and the BCM will limit its operation when they are active for long periods of time.
I think having front fog lights with static cornering lights function, predictive static cornering lights in the Matrix 8IU headlights, Dynamic Cornering Lights (low and high) and Dynamic Light Assist with multiple functions is more than enough to guide my way/path with complete clarity.
