Faulty car alarm

Post by Matt565 »

Hi, just joined the group, thanks for the add. Got a brand new Dec 2020 Polo, whenever we get strong wind where I live the car alarm goes off. I took it back last week where the dealership said they adjusted the sensitivity of the alarm. It’s windy again today and the alarm has gone off twice. Is this a common issue , anyone else experienced it? Any idea how to fix it? Thanks

Have had similar experiences since ownership (mid 2019). Any sort of heavy rain/wind and the alarm is going off.

In fact we had heavy hailstones in Wales today which set it off. Not fun when it happens at 3am, neighbours must love it...

When we had both the Golf R and our first Polo GTI+, in very windy/rainy weather (we get the full north sea air blast), the Golf would remain silent and the Polo would alarm. Not often though.

One of my previous Golf Gtis had an alarm issue in rain.
Turns out the rear window seal was letting water in, which was running down and shorting out the connection between the tailgate and the body.
So the car thought the tailgate was being broken into.

Yes I have similar issue with VW Polo 2020. My alarm goes off when it hailstones. Been back to the garage and they reduced sensitivity of car alarm on two occasions. Alarm still goes off. I spoke to VW and they could not help They could only say take it back to the garage. The garage now say they dont know how to fix it. In fact they refer to it as a "feature", not a fault. I took them to the ombudsman but I didnt have evidence of the alarm fault so they have sided with supplier of car (Arnold Shark)

Both polo gti’s that I have owned have this issue , easily sorted buy closing air vents on dash when leaving car in rough weather.
(Works for me anyway! )

I owned a few VWs and all of them would alarm in heavy rain, hail or wind. Most sensitive alarms I’ve known. One street over is the storage depot for Skoda Preston and they’re always going off as well in inclement weather. Must be a VW group thing.
