1994 polo breadvan power loss

Hi, I'm back and needing your expertise and knowledge again. You've all been so helpful before, I'm hoping you can help me again. I'll try to give as much detail as possible. My little polo has what appears to be an odd misfire very occasionally but the real issue is that when driving under gentle throttle the power seems to drop off, it'll just bog down and run flat and then suddenly spring into life and suddenly accelerate. It can happen at any moment but only lasts for a few seconds. At the last service it had new plugs, leads, distributor and cap and rotor arm and a coil pack and has been running sweet as a nut. I wondered if the recent damp weather was causing it so I've sprayed everything I can see that is electrical with gt85 but unfortunately the problem is still there.
