Hello,
I own a Polo 6N1 from 1999 (1.9d engine). Recently my gearbox shifter had broken and I am not sure if the shifters from the other type of Gearboxes will fit or not.
I am unsure what kind of gearbox I have sadly
My chasis number is: WVWZZZ6NZXY427630
I will attach a photo below because I am unsure if the part I'm asking for is really called a shifter or not.
I apologise for any mistakes I made, English isn't my first language. Thank you

Re: Polo 6N1 Gearbox question
Your engine code is AEF, it's the only 1.9d which was built in this period. Therefore your box code should be DCH. I know that the gearboxes vary internally between different engines and fuel types, but to be honest I can't imagine why VW would make an different mechanism for just this one model. So my best guess is that the gear selector from another box should fit as well, as long as it has the same amount of gears (4 or 5 gears).

Thank you so much for your reply
Do you have any idea if I can use a gearbox selector from another type of engine? Like tdi or maybe even from petrol engines from the same time period?

Re: Polo 6N1 Gearbox question
I assume you can as long as it's from a Polo, but I'm not certain. But to be honest, why not replace the whole gearbox while you are at it?
