Rear wiper issue

Post by Tetracat »

Hi. Looking for advice on fixing the rear wiper situation I have. The original had broken, so I bought a cheap replacement. However the metal ring is completely stuck on the motor thread pole thing. See pic. I can't get a new wiper on. Any advice? Thanks (MOT next week!!)

Use a dremel to remove the nut.
Make a cut, be careful not to destroy the washernozzle

The washer nozzle should just pull off/out allowing you to cover that area with sticky tape to protect it while you work on getting that alloy part up/off the wiper motor tapered spindle.

Also scrub the grooved/splined section with something - an old tooth brush would work, then apply some grease sort of stuff to hold back the next wiper arm seizing on.

One thing not to do is, to use a puller to ease that alloy part up and off, doing that will certainly start to destroy the hollow tubes in the drive shaft for the wiper, the washer pipe/tube resides inside the the motor drive tube but is fixed so that it does not rotate with the wiper arm.

I have needed to replace one of these washer tube and shafts in the past by buying a repair kit - so using a puller to remove the intact wiper arm was okay for me as the washer tube had started to rotate with the arm, so everything required replacing anyway.

Sometimes they won't budge.
My old 9N3 2008 removed without issue,
My wife's old 9N3 2007 I had to pull out the old dremel.
