Re: Will this fit the gti

I'd guess it'd fit physically, but would be the wrong height and damping rates for a GTI

Re: need new alternator

FWIW, I paid £30 for one off a 2008 9n3 1.4 16v from eBay. Fitted prefectly and had the same VW/Bosch part numbers.

Took an hour or so to swap it over on the driveway with my dad.

Re: G60 Brake Upgrade - Carriers

I found them to make no difference when I fitted them.

I think it was worse if anything. I did a reasonably detailed thread where stock, G60 and a set of 4-pots were compared and I think the G60s were worst.

They did look good though compared to standard, but not 4-pot good. 8)

Re: What's everyones MPG these days?

I used to get around 40 when commuting. Now it's a toy, 30 is generally good.

The 330d can get up to 50, but my word is it boring doing that!

Polo GTI 6n2 - 3 door, red

Hi all, For sale is my Polo GTI. I've had the car for over three years and it's been nearly faultless. Aside from service parts it's had a new alternator, RCL pump and ABS sensor in that time. I'm looking to sell as I want something different (I get bored easily, most cars stay less than a year!) - ...

Re: hi

Yep, brakes are back to standard (256mm), although I've got a set of G60s hanging around still I've been meaning to sell which I can throw in if you want? (sans disks though) The current brakes have loads of life left anyway I think. I think it came with a warped disk, so I replaced the lot and then...

Re: hi

Yep, remote with an alarm system. Some of the non-GTis were RCL too, but not all. I can't remember if it was an option, or part of a trim level either. I'll get a full advert up at some point but off the top of my head it's: 90k miles (just under) new box and clutch at about 60-70k (invoice with mil...

Re: hi

Ah, I don't think they'l. Need coding. If you get a gti it has rcl anyway.

I'm in no rush to sell mine anyway, but it's interesting to hear what your money will get you.

Re: hi

What you looking to do with the central locking? The 'auto lock at speed' and stuff doesn't work on the 6n2, and nor does the selective unlocking (where only the driver's door opens initially). Should be possible, mines up for sale in the next day or two and is a clean, well maintained example IMO (...

Re: hi

Welcome :) VAGCOM needs to run on Windows, yes. I think it needs to be 32bit for the older versions but I think the later ones can do 64 bit installs. A VM might work if you can find drivers for the cable. I got mine via a cheap eBay cable which gives you access to the 'lite' version for reading cod...

First time I've logged in for ages - looks like a good buy that! Will be interesting to watch this pan out!

Nice brakes too - they look better than my black ones! ;)

Re: Success: External temp in Climatronic screen

The flashing is a sign of a fault in the system I think. VCDS should say more :) The only things that you can really do on these are: temp in HVAC (as per this thread) beep on unlock/lock indicators on unlock/lock different alarm tones (US/EU) Things like sweeping, auto lock doors, single unlock dri...
