Here's how it is

If you still have problems post-recall, then call VW customer service. They now have it on record that many of us had problems since getting our cars back post-recall, and VW are prepared to resolve these issues on an "Internal" repair with a VW Dealer (only). So, I've had my steering knoc...

Lacquer

Know what you mean by the lacquer peeling... I noticed the lacquer on mine was coming off the split rims and where it is the metal is corroding. The wheels themselves are still god though. I guess I'll have to wet and dry them soon and get all the useless lacquer off them soon. 8)

Cost

Well, it should be the cost of a hour labour I suspect... £30 - £40 I'd guess now. You shouldn't need to buy any parts as it's just having the engineer check it out with their tool.

Rozzie

Take the car into a dealer and ask them to re-align the gear linkages - they have a tool for this - takes them 10 minutes. Should be okay after this.

VW Customer Service - Followup from them

I have been contacted by VW Customer Service re the Pedal Box Recall. I still have a clonking on my steering after all this. Anyway, I answered a VW customer service survey on Friday last - I told them exactly what I think and about all the problems you people (and me) have had with the Pedal Box re...

Has been known

This can happen if you bump start a newer car. Unburnt oil from the engine can seep into the exhaust. If it ends up on the lambda sensor at the top of the exhaust end engine down pipe, then when you get it hot, the coated oil cooks on the ceramic in the lambda and it will read faulty. New Lambda sen...

Welcome

I had an annoying dash noise from the middle air vents. This came about after the VW Dealer pulled out most of the dash due to the peddle box recall (which I would presume you've had done as its from a Dealer). Not much you can do about it really except remove the bottom covers and tighten up the sc...

Yeah

We've had this thread previously... seems WD40 does quieten down the belt slip - the belt slips because it is dry, not cos it is wet - it you look at your belt, I bet it is dry. Anyway, we checked this all out and I found that grease actually worked well. The belt still grips as its tensioned.

Had this too

Yep, I had this - usually when cold starting. I put some molydenum grease (lightly) on the thick belt for the alternator etc. This cured it. Seems to be a common problem - the belt drys out in the heat, and then when cold, it looses grip. Someone said they roughed the belt up a little to make it gri...

Miles?

Perhaps you've done a lot of miles? It comes up cos it tripped the miles for an oil change or the time between services as when reset.
