Re: Are You Using Oil?
Actually - my local dealer and VW customer service say 1 litre every 600 miles is considered normal. That doesn't stop it from being wrong. VW won't help you - it would be an admission that their award winning little engine isn't worthy of all the back slapping they got in the press for it a few yea...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
Just put cooking oil in if you're on a contract and the car will be going back eventually. Don't waste your money buying decent stuff, it will just keep drinking it. If you've bought the car outright - flog it, cut your losses. It isn't going to get solved or "fixed" by the dealer no matte...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
Not heard anything but if they're going to change the unit I doubt if will be back to the 1.8, more likely that 1.6 turbo unit if at all. After my experience with the 6R GTI it's made me quite dubious about the 1.4tsi/dq200 combo that has found it's way into the hot VAG hatches. Why would they not o...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
If it starts gulping oil make sure you try reject the car ASAP. I've just got the word from VWFS that we can't reject our contract hire car as it's nearly 2 years into contract. VW customer services only have the power over VWFS for the 1st year. I'm now stuck with a car that costs me an extra 5-7 q...

Re: Are You Using Oil?
Just seen the thread and would like to add - my '61 plate GTI has just had a replacement engine @ 21k. I went through the rigmarole of the 2 oil consumption tests and then the breather pipe mod, and then when that didn't work 2 more oil consumption tests leading finally to a whole new engine. Surpri...

Re: Polo GTI - Sound Generator on bulkhead?
I thought it was the MKV Golf with that arrangement? As far as I can tell thru google and hearsay this generation gets "noise generators". To be fair I canny tell with my GTI because I've never heard another TSI before and as far as I can ascertain the speaker is pretty much a subwoofer an...

Polo GTI - Sound Generator on bulkhead?
Hi all, Was out on a fault finding drive with a VW technician from my local dealer (trying to find the source of a creaky seat! Now replaced under warranty  ) and after about 5 minutes of driving around he suddenly burst out laughing. When I asked him what was so funny he said he could really ...

Cool, I'll have a look - if there's any coding to be done I'll post up what I did.
Cheers!

5K0 035 730 B (9w7) & RNS 310 Compatible?
Can anyone shed some light on whether or not the 5K0 035 730 B unit is compatible with the RNS 310 found in my 6R Polo GTI?
Many thanks!

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
I think the 3 in the 830000 signifies automatic/dsg, from looking at other folks autoscans dotted around forums. Anyone with the gti and multi function steering wheel fancy posting up a scan so we can see what the proper coding should be ?

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
Hmmm - Seems to be the same module (5K0 959 542). Although it is found in a different place (16 steering wheel?) http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o7/elliotcater/VAG%20COM%20Screenshots/rocco.jpg So if I change it manually to 820000 d'ya reckon that's worth a shot? More importantly will it brick my...
