Re: K&N Typhoon in an actual Typhoon = baaad neews
Alright guys, I have gone out and bought myself a rather tasty Clio 182, I have decided to sell the polo on ebay as a whole as I don't really have the time to take her apart, thanks for your interest, will be sad to see the Polo go :(

Re: K&N Typhoon in an actual Typhoon = baaad neews
Crazy as it seams but sometimes these cars are worth more in parts :/
I'd say in it's current state about 500 ( Tax 225 plus engine 400-500 ish ) . At GTI with over 120K is worth little overt £1000 sadly. Even though yours is very clean.
Yeah I think your right mate, hasn't got much going for ...

Gutted for you mate..... :(
Cheers mate
so, are you gonna sell whole car? Are you gonna leave it for parts? I'm looking for gearbox, so if you thinking about to strip it down for parts, PM me ;) I'd be interested in front and rear bumpers if you do split it. How much for the whole car?

Re: K&N Typhoon in an actual Typhoon = baaad neews
Your right it sounded deeper down in the engine but I was clutching at straws really, thought it was worth a punt instead of the 1100 the first garage had quoted!rover220 wrote:there was no need to have it stripped down to be told it wasnt the head!

Re: K&N Typhoon in an actual Typhoon = baaad neews
Well they have stripped the head down and after checking the valve train they have told me its coming from deeper down in the block in cylinder 1 and repairing it will cost in a best case scenario of £1000.

Re: K&N Typhoon in an actual Typhoon = baaad neews
The engines dont seam that expensive its just the labour costs pushing it up to over a £1000 I like to do most of the work on my own car but I dont think I have the tools or the know how to do an engine change.
First place suspect the rods and the second place who stripped the head said its coming ...

Re: K&N Typhoon in an actual Typhoon = baaad neews
Yeah turns out it is serious and its going to cost to much to warrant getting it repaired, think I'm just going to have to sell it as spares and repairs

K&N Typhoon in an actual Typhoon = baaad neews
Hi Guys,
Today on the way home from work less than 500 yards from my front door the heavens opened, the road filled up with water so quickly it was unbelievable and my polo sucked up a load of water and I have spent the last four hours trying to get her going again. I have got her to start now and ...

Re: Gear Box Oil Leak- not the selector shaft seal
It could well be a combination of the selector seal and the driveshaft seals. I had a leaking driveshaft seal on mine and replaced both sides when I had the box off to do the clutch
Gearbox oil smells different to engine oil, so it's quite easily identified.
Mine is also leaking quite bad ...

Gear Box Oil Leak- not the selector shaft seal
Hi all,
My Gti has developed a bit of an oil leak from the gear box, its not the selector shaft seal.
Its had a little leak which I have been monitoring for a while around the blue circle (see picture) but recently its started getting a lot worse and making a rate mess of the drive!

Re: What's everyones MPG these days?
I'm doing a 100 miles a day in my Polo on the commute to work mainly motorway driving
I can get about 44 MPG quite easily as its only the last 5 miles or so that i'm in built up areas.
Once got it up to 48 MPG but I am talking some seriously anal driving here, just wanted to see how far I could ...
