6n2 1.0 oil breather problems

Sounds like piston rings are goosed. Happens to my 6n2 gti. Spitting oil out the breather.

Is the car using/burning oil?

Struggled to start and VAGCOM says.......

Hi bud

That fault is for the Lamda sensor pre cat ie the front closest to the engine. Its located in the manifold to the right hand side

Check the wiring on the front of the gearbox where it plugs into. They are prone to snap/corrode on the wiring loom here due to the heat.

Also, check the fuses ...

Using Oil!

I've had problems with oil burning as well for about 4 months. Finally bit the bullet and stripped the engine, turned out to be piston no.3's oil ring was non existent.

So new piston rings, big end shells and head gasket set including stem oil seals. Timing kit and waterpump. A lot of cash but ...

6N2 Front Wheel Bearings

How did u get on with the strut and bearings? My box cost £380 to get recon but I removed and refitted it myself. So I saved a bit there.

Polo 9n creak help please!

I'd say top mount or wishbone bush. But if it's just passed m.o.t you would imagine they'd have picked it up.

Spraying side skirts

I take it the skirts are plastic? If so.... Rub them down with 400 grit paper. Give it 2 coats of plastiprime (plastic primer) , then rub the primer down with 1000 grit wet n dry. Then few coats of base coat (colour) then blast it with a good few coats of lacquer. Hope this helps in some way.

Maybe the valve fitted was faulty. It can happen. Also if u have it plugged in to the vagcom computer u can run a test on the exhaust electrical system. So it may b one of the O2 sensors.

I had a similar fault and it turned out to b a loose wire on the O2 sensor.

MOT advisory: Drag/Drop link end ball joint slight play

Sounds to me like it's the track rod end and tie rod. As the polo gti 2001 doesn't have drop links. They have a anti roll bar instead.

Might b worth just popping bk to m.o.t station and asking them the exact fault like said above u should always ask the tester if unsure of the anything.

6N2 Front Wheel Bearings

Well I had my gearbox recond as the bearings were whining. Not humming like the wheel bearings. Just incase it is the box bearings and not wheel bearings.

If the noise increases as u accelerate up to 50-70 then decreases as u slow down it's more likely to be box related.

U can check the wheel ...

6N2 Front Wheel Bearings

Wheel bearing humming noise will occur at speeds of around 30-50mph..
Also replacing the bearings has to be done by a garage. As the bearings need to b pressed in straight. And it's not am easy job without the correct tools.

Has your polo had a recon gearbox yet?

First thing to check is the engine oil! If that's all good then move on to check the gearbox oil.
Do u have problems selecting certain gears?

Coilovers/anti roll bar !

Hey joe yeah since I posted this I recently found the solution. Remove the arb all together. Problem solved. Has no effect on handling. I had to replace 2 wishbones as the arb had nackered the bushes. So off it came and had been great since.

Door speakers not working!

If you have carried out all those checks all that remains is the speaker cables. I would buy some new cables connect into the speaker block at the bk of the cd player. And connect to your speakers. Do not run them behind the dash etc at this point. If they work with the new cables and connections ...
