Dual mass flywheel?

Hello all, as I've stated in a previous post my 2000 6n2 GTI has a very odd knocking noise from the front o/s that started, then left and has now come back with a vengance, I've had it in the garage and they can't find anything wrong because as usual it won't make the noise when they test it! But fr...

Re: location . . .

I'm from near Kelso, which is a wee town in the Scottish Borders, must be a 6n2 hotspot here, there are 3 Polo Gti's in Kelso. 2 silver and 1 black (my one) so obviously my one is the coolest by far..... :D

Re: Rear discs and Pads

Re: Rear discs and Pads

Haha ok, cheers for that, I'm an Ag mechanic so spanners and sockets for the job really aren't an issue, although the 3/4" sockets might be a wee bit too big :D. I'm used to working on Land Rovers too, normally just push the pistons back in with a pry-bar. Although I remember doing the discs an...

Rear discs and Pads

Hello all, I'm needing to do the rear discs and pads on the car, 6n2 Polo GTi 2000 on an X plate. I've read on a couple forums that you need a 'special tool' to do the rears, might seem like a stupid question but what is the tool required, is it for winding back the piston or something?

Re: Knocking noise from o/s front wheel.

The knocking has now disappeared, had the car at work today, myself and 2 other Ag mechanics couldn't find anything wrong with it, no noise driving into work, or running it 25 miles to my local VW garage and back. So I'm thinking maybe a pad was rattling or something, we will watch this space......

Nightmare Bradley! :? Hopefully this is all that's wrong with mine for just now, although I realise I'm tempting fate by saying that!

Re: Knocking noise from o/s front wheel.

Yeah I'm kinda leaning towards the CV joint being gubbed, I notice the lower ball joint on the wishbone on same side was looking a bit hard up so I'm going to get that done at the same time, we'll see what happens on Wed, cheers!

Knocking noise from o/s front wheel.

As the post says, knocking noise from the o/s front wheel just started yesterday, almost like a calper is loose or something, can feel it through the pedal. I've had a good poke about and can't find anything loose or broken. Plus when the car's up on the jack there's no knocking :? Very frustrating,...

Re: Locking wheel nut key needed

Got it sorted today, bought a key from eBay, it was pretty close, so I guttered the holes in the nut with a drill, and the key fitted on with a wee bit of help from the No.1 adjustment tool, and they all came off no problem, went far easier than I imagined it would!

Re: Locking wheel nut key needed

Yeah I've still got the box, I'll have a look at it see if I can get a code off of it. Might have a bash at the pliers/vice-grip idea. Failing that I'll take a mold of the bolt and fabricate something at work.

cheers guys!

Re: Locking wheel nut key needed

The ones' I've got fitted are the 'tri-lock' ones, I understand what you mean about the security side of it, not much use if one key fits all, but surely they can't all be different, I can't see a manufacturer stopping their machine and changing the setting for every set of wheel nuts? I think they'...
