I have got shortened drop links ready to fit as slammed it all way to bottom on the front got some weird noises and rubs 8) so raised it back up till I fit the drop links. You find you needed to fit the drop links ? They make a difference? As what could stop the driveshaft from rubbing if drop ...

Re: Polo 1.6 Sport - Coilovers Fitted

As the thread title says I managed to acquire some second hand (and well looked after) AP coilovers last week and spent a majority of saturday fitting them. I've chosen to go very low as I think it complements the votex kit and bluemotion splitter - I know it wont do wonders for handling but I'm ...

Re: Lucaio's Build Thread

Nice to see another 1.6 Sport up and coming, still love the fact they are so rare and everyone assumes you're in a 1.4. Looking good with the GTI headlights and Comps, just needs a bit of lowering and will be golden mate!

I own those wheels in ET30 - not fitted yet but my guess was there will only be a tiny bit of poke on the rears..

Coilovers - advice needed

Right, will have a budget of around 400-500 to spend on coilovers - what are the best for the money. I don't want to go stupidly low but would appreciate a decent ride and improved handling. From what I've heard so far FK or KW are the way to go, heard negative things about JOM in the past though ...

Re: Polo 1.6 Sport (105), thoughts?

Any idea of what ones you are going to go for?

Well I've used V-maxx coilovers before on my Mazda MX5 and I found them to be faultless, they're mid-range as well so can imagine them being fairly good on the polo. Also looked at KW Variant 1 Basic coilovers as they were recommended to me in the ...

Re: Polo 1.6 Sport (105), thoughts?

If you tell me the seller that would be great! Cheers mate!
Yeah, I've ordered some yellow fog bulbs and some tint film from lamin-x.

I would love coilovers but I had some budget ones on my clio and the ride comfort was terrible, so I don't really want to go for the budget £200ish ones (JOM, FK ...

Re: Polo 1.6 Sport (105), thoughts?

A few things:

Got my eyes on a set of Montreal II alloys which I'm thinking of getting and painting black.
Custom exhaust from Pro Speed, heard lots of good things about those guys.
Either Eibach or H&R springs, leaning towards the Eibach Pro springs after reading about.
Then a few minor mods ...

Re: Polo 1.6 Sport (105), thoughts?

I'm going to chuck a K&N 57i one on mine, are they any good?

Yeah that's what I've used for 5 months with the results I posted above 8) .. I don't really like how it sits on top of the engine (bad for heat soak) but I've got two cold air feeds going to it from the front grille and it seems fine!
