I believe the only way to disable the passenger airbag is to pull the fuse, VAG-COM won't do it alone.

I got it off eBay, purely because it was cheaper than standard and has a good grumble to it.

This is the image I'm talking about, the light is confined to the chrome ring, I've see this on many a Golf but not on any Polo.
