Hi Mutley1,

The car is now up and running. In the end, although I had worked out most of the wiring for myself, I decided to make enquiries among auto-electricians as to costs and eventually manage to get one who re-wired it in his lunch-break for £20.

Thanks for your advice

Ignition Switch Plug Wiring for Polo Coupe L Reg

Does anyone have a diagram which shows which colour wire goes where on the rear of the plug which connects to the ignition switch, please?

I have read the appropriate Haynes Manual and although this gives colours and corresponding numbers, I cannot see numbers marked on the plug !!!

Please help - Polo Coupe Vandalised

HI,

I wonder if any one can help, please?

I live in Scotland and returned from holiday recently to find that my car had been vandalised. The car is a Polo Coupe 1992 model.

To summarise:

1. The vandals gained access by using a screwdriver on the near side door lock, hence new lock needed.

MkIII Thermostat

My temperature guage sits permamnently at about 70 when the engine is warmed up, is this normal. I understand the thermostat should start to open about 83 and be fully open at 113.

Is the temp normal, is there something wrong, I thought normal guage temp was around 90. Do I need to replasce my ...

If one of them's duff, can it be renewed with a bit of de-ionised water or something (or even new acid), or is it screwed for good?

A battery consists of a number of cells connected together, usually if one goes down it will pull the battery output down with it.

Usually if a cell is duff ...

Re: ello ello ... fraid im sneakin back with a problem-quest

[quote="Tahrey1043"]Right, its 1.50am and i have work in the morning so best be brief.

So far i've had suggestion of it just being a bad battery (charge pattern etc when off the car suggests otherwise), poor connection with the main electrode clamps (whatever you call 'em ... go on top of the ...

Thanks Spikey, to date nobody has been looking at me and after the MoT one of the garage mechanics took the car for a spin after sorting the gear selectors (which one of his mates had messed up) but he didn't make any comment about the wheel bearings so I suppose it (they) can't be that bad - or ...

I'm not really acqauianted with the noise of a faulty wheel bearing, what does it sound like when it is going is there anything specific about it, that i should listen for. As far as I'm aware, there are no rumbling noises coming from the bearings, jus what i would describe as wheel noise, ie I'm ...
