Hi,
The timing chain on my 2011 1.2 3cyl Polo has either jumped or stretched at 100k miles. The car still runs, albeit somewhat poorly, so I don't think it has done any damage which is lucky (I won't be turning it on until fixed in case it gets worse).
I understand there has been a number of ...

Thank you so much, you're a legend! If I could buy you a beer I would!
The first code worked. Then I just turned off the TPMS. All accepted and no more ABS and TPMS light!
Just got to sort these out:

Re: Help Getting Long Code For ABS
Yes the original instrument cluster has been in use while attempting this recode, and will remain in use.iichel wrote: Fri Jul 02, 2021 10:14 pm Is the instrument cluster a match to the engine control unit?

Re: Help Getting Long Code For ABS
Have you ever done an autoscan before on your car?
Unfortunately no I haven't otherwise I could just get the old code from one :/
I've just tried making another code but it hasn't worked:

Re: Help Getting Long Code For ABS
Why is the coding lost?
Honestly I have no idea. I haven't touched the ABS system.
I was replacing things, BCM, gauge cluster. Could that have caused it?
To be clear original parts are back in the vehicle.
I found your thread on here to figure out the coding using the spreadsheets, however ...

Help Getting Long Code For ABS
Hi,
Somehow the long code for the ABS has magically poofed and it's causing the ABS light to illuminate on the dash, thus an MOT failure.
I have a 2011 1.2L 3cyl petrol, RHD.
Checked it in VCDS and the long code is all 0s and completely gone somehow.
I would really appreciate some help getting ...

Re: Dashboard Lights Don't Turn On With Light Switch
Yeah they're all a bit mashed up.
I've covered them in liquid insulation and will leave that to dry. Then wrap each individual cable with some harness tape and wrap them all more than they were to prevent causing myself this issue again!

Re: Dashboard Lights Don't Turn On With Light Switch
FIXED!!
I narrowed it down to the driver's side window switches.
Probably in the process of putting the door card back on I must have crushed the wires or just about ran the machine screw in next to them to reveal a super tiny piece of copper on the grey/blue cable.

Re: Dashboard Lights Don't Turn On With Light Switch
I don't think this car has a diagnostic connection on the 58d circuit.
There might be an issue with the light switch, which i doubt.
The path is: light switch -> SB7 -> dimmer T6/3 in -> T6/5 out -> the rest of the car.
So your best call is to check fuse 7, the input of pin 3 of the dimmer and ...

Re: Dashboard Lights Don't Turn On With Light Switch
makes sense since it has a high load on it, if my short circuit theory is correct.
you said you replaced the dimmer, did both dimmers show this heat up?
They both did yep. Making it seem like your short circuit theory is correct even more.
I'm guessing when I jumped those two wires it allowed ...

Re: Dashboard Lights Don't Turn On With Light Switch
Fuse 11 is the fuse that powers the yellow and black wire to the dimmer.
So it seems you're having a short circuit in your 58d (dash illumination) circuit somewhere. Either in the wiring, a coupling point (like the door connector) or in a light/button/switch.
So what makes you think that now ...

Re: Dashboard Lights Don't Turn On With Light Switch
I'd really recommend to check the fuse again, because this should really blow a fuse:
Jumped pins on the dimmer/headlamp level switch from brown cable to slate/blue cable
Try bridging the yellow/black cable to the grey/blue cable on the dimmer switch.
Ok so I checked all the fuses first, all ...
