That interior styling is woeful. It looks like a really cheap ford interior or something.

I like the tartan though as it dates to the early GTi's :D

That engine is well capable of matching the hot hatch supermini's like the Clio 182 and the 206GTi's, why the hell are VW always so conservative ...

You are supposed to lightly grease the threads and the washer of the head bolts. This is to apply the correct torque during the primary tightening stage of the bolts. Otherwise you can find your bolts are not tight enough.
However you must not cause hydraulic lock with the grease (buildup of liquid ...

Yes it is definately worth it. Unless you drive like my missus! :D
I found the upper one alone made more difference to my car. Gave sharper turn in and better cornering grip. The lower one alone gave much better brake feel and braking ability.
However I did have 15's and a fully welded up chassis ...

I too agree that his explaination is a load of b*******s. Sounds like he is trying to charge you for work that does not need doing IMO. If it sounds like a tappet then it is more than likely head related and not to do with the bottom end.

I had a similar issue once and it was the valve guide had ...

I had my MK2 at well over 110mph down a big big hill with 5 lads and it would pull 100 on the flat given a tailwind and half an hour. This motor would usually hold 90 on a long journey and it never let me down.

The MK3 1l outside right now has done 106mph (indicated) down an equally big hill and is ...

I have not yet found a product that VW cannot supply me with from an original G40. I need to ask them their policy on older vehicles!
Go ask. I got a new GT badge recently (GT - G40 conversion sleeper style), £6 for the silver one.

Hi all,
Well chuffed to find your forum. Seems like a good crowd. Hello!

Well I was shocked at this thread so I had to register to give my opinion.

I got a GT 5 years ago and had it somewhat modified at Dubsport (don't go there nowadays - robbing t**t Mark runs it recently)

Flowed head
Piper cam ...
