I've manage to get 52 MPG on a drive to work earlier in the week.
Around a 30 mile drive, 40 mins, mainly A roads.
Very please with that, i expect it to get better after i've put a few miles on it too!

Re: New GTI
On picking the car up the dealer mentioned the wing mirrors should have opened on unlocking the car.
Now the first time we unlocked the car they opened. After being shown round the car, fiddling with various controls and going for a test drive, we got back and locked the car. After a a quick good ...

Re: New GTI
I've had my gti for a week now, everything about the car is great, although the standard sound system is pretty average.
One thing i've not worked out yet is how to get the wing mirrors to open when i unlock the car. Now i've gone into the central console and tick on the option to open the mirrors ...

Re: New GTI
It would be interesting to know the average waiting time to get a gti, and which is the better route to go down, dealer or broker.
I ordered mine in early May, and picking up this friday. 10 weeks in total.
From reading others on here, i feel very lucky!

Re: New GTI
I can't believe how some of you have been treated regarding delivery info and dates, very poor from VW/dealers.
I ordered mine 1st week in May and have been told it's currently in transit. Should be at dealers last week of July. So a total of 12 weeks all going well.
Seems to be huge variation in ...

Re: New GTI
Thanks. Mine is coming as a 3dr manual with the sports button option, in white with satnav and winter pack. Interestingly I have read previously that the sports button initiates peak torque earlier in the Rev range? I'm not sure how true this is, but surely an advantage that is being overlooked in ...

Re: Collecting from the dealership?
Anyone know what the protocol is once my new GTi arrives at the dealership?
It arrived in UK Tuesday so was hoping it might be at the dealership Saturday and I'd be able to spend the whole weekend getting to know it :D Then I got thinking…whilst I have filled out the reg forms and dropped them ...

Re: New GTI
I've been told may car will be delivered at the end of July.
Does anyone have any advise regarding waiting for the new reg. Obviously it will be another month until the new reg comes in (Sept), so what are people experiences /opinions on waiting to get the new reg. Is it worth waiting, how much ...

Re: New GTI
I wouldn't rush into remapping a dsg polo.
Mapping a manual more than 30Nm will take it past the "design limit" of the gear box
I'll not be messing with my car anytime soon, bog standard will do me fine. Potentially in the future though I'll look into it.

Re: New GTI
Can anyone with the DSG tell me what rpm the engine is pulling at 70mph in 7th please and the manual as well?
I have the old model but according to Auto Express it is 2,500 rpm at 70mph for the manual, I would expect the DSG to be very similar, perhaps fractionally lower even given the extra gear ...
