Re: Heated washer jets

Hi Steve, it does look like sheathed wiring i must admit , i presume the wrapping is offer some protection against freezing !!

Agree, it does look like sheathed wiring. However, based on my Polo GTI+ that I owned from 2020 when new for 4 years, my car definitely didn’t have heated washer jets ...

Re: Substance leaking from wheel arch – any ideas what this could be?

I have no idea what it might be and have never had anything like that on any VW - or any non-VW - that I’ve owned. Has it done it since the car was new or has it only recently started? Is odourless? I don’t think it’s cavity wax as I don’t think there are any cavities in that area that might have ...

Re: Heated washer jets

Heated washer jets aren’t part of standard spec. & and I’m not sure if they’re available as an option on the facelift GTI. They used to be part of the optional Winter Pack on the pre-facelift Polo (I don’t know if the optional Winter Pack was available on the facelift Polo). From memory, the Winter ...

Re: EPC Warning Light

Good to know you guys also suffer carbon build up, I thought it maybe due to the RON95 unleaded fuel we have here in South Africa since you guys use 98 there right? I recall SRGTD said a while back carbon buildup wasn't a problem in the UK anymore.

You may have been thinking of my post in the ...

Re: Polo gti 25th edition

Are you sure DCC wasn’t part of the GTI 25’s standard spec; it was on my 2020 pre-facelift Polo GTI+ as part of the standard spec (called sport select suspension at that time; two modes - sport and normal).

As for the price premium of a ‘fully loaded’ GTI 25 compared to a lower spec’d example ...

Re: EPC Warning Light

Hi mate,

Sorry to read of your problems. If you try an internet search on ‘epc warning light’, the AI response lists the common causes. I’d expect fault codes to be stored so if you were to get a diagnostic kit, you could at least read the fault codes and do an internet search on the codes to ...

Re: For anyone thinking of a Polo-sized EV from VAG…….

The Škoda Epiq is now on the Škoda UK website, and I must say it looks nice, obviously it’s an ID.Polo underneath. I find the ID.Polo rather dull and Germanic, the Epiq has some character. However, it probably only gets the smaller Electric Car Grant, a heat pump is a costly extra and the free ...

Re: Polo lifetime

Yes I’m sticking with red paint, it is my favourite. Blue available on the top spec only is good, and black is good too. Apparently you can upgrade Renault parking cameras with a better unit, but it might not be easy to gain access to the camera unit. It has one pedal driving so more efficient and ...

Re: Polo lifetime

Yes good point about the heat pump. Does the ID.Polo have a reversing camera as standard? The R4/R5 have one, the image quality is atrocious, but it works! They both have one pedal driving, so it’ll be interesting to see what range I get. My manual Polo does 60-70 mpg, 70 mpg is only in peak ...

Re: Polo lifetime

The R4 also gets a heat pump as standard 👍 🙂 - likely to be a circa £1,000 - £1,200 cost option on the ID.Polo (it’s an extra cost option on most - if not all - other VW ID cars).

As you’ve said, the ID.Polo is expected to get the lower level (Band 2) government EV grant. If its battery is ...

Re: Polo lifetime

A quick update, today I paid a £1,000 deposit on a Renault 4 Evolution in metallic red, that’s the base spec. and the free colour. A hair under £22,000 and £10 a month for three services in three years or 48,000 miles, so £120 per service. The service interval is one year or 18,000 miles, compared ...

Re: Tyre recs for Polo GTI (2025 if matters)

I’ve used Camskill Tyres and they're usually very good price-wise. Delivery service was also good. They are supply-only so you’d need to find your own fitter. Website; https://www.camskill.co.uk/

Like @OomStu_ZA I’d also recommend Michelin. I had Michelin PS4 on my 2020 Polo GTI+ (I no longer have ...

Re: Polo lifetime

I doubt there are many owners of high(er) mileage current shape polos on the forum with first hand real world experience, as many (the majority of?) owners’ cars will be on a three year PCP so they’ll be handed back long before they reach a similar age / mileage to your car’s. The forum is also ...

Re: Polo lifetime

If a proactive approach is taken to maintenance, scheduled jobs are carried out on time and genuine parts are used / fluids used are to VW’s spec, then you’re minimising the risk of a car becoming unreliable. You will incur the cost of having to periodically replacing consumable items such as tyres ...
