I have just bought a 1.4 mk3 golf engine from a 93 model, Im sure these engines are the same as mk3 polo's and will fit easily by swapping the alternator mount..... also does anyone know if the gearboxes off a GT or Genesis will match up with this block?
still looking for an ECU and manifold 2 ...

Id put you a pic of mine up there too but cant seem to do it!

aright mate ive had the standard 13" wheels 14" and 15x7's which i have on now.

Thats the kinda sh*t im tryin to find out!!! cheers mate! Can you just swap the heads over do you know? you see my genesis engine is knocking its balls off (bottom end going big time) just waitin for the conrods to come flying out the case lol.

my polo is an L reg genesis 1272 ive had two of them but they both been single point fuel inection, some genesis polo's have the multipoint fuel injection but ive only seen it in the squareback shape which say Genesis Catalyst on the back.

appart from the obvious can anyone tell me if there are any differences such as the cam, compresion, gearbox atuff like that. i just need some advice really because i have a GT engine and box and i also have the engine and box out of my genesis and im wondering which dirrection to go in.

right mate if its the passenger side its well common and its useually the anti roll bar bushes where it nolts into the trailin arm, ive had the same problem with both polo's ive had and same on me mates. does it do it even louder if you pull off quite quickly and more so if you spin the wheels?

if there are two allen keys on the distributor, if you loosen them and twist it one way when the engine is just ticking over and one way retards the timing and the engine revs will drop---- and the other way is to advance the timing and the engine revs will increase.

so the engine in yours came straight out of a golf, what year was it mate? could you send me some pics?? or does it look exactly like the 1272 engine? eg the three nuts on the top of the rocker cover that the later polo engines dont have.

i was looking at some of the 1.4 engines that are in the later mk4 i think anyway polos after 94 and also golf 1.4 engines. they look like they would drop straight in after changing the alternator/engine mounts??????
