Re: New GTI

Does my oil consumption seem excessive? Car serviced at VW - 19,850 Miles (August 17) just checked my oil before heading out on a long journey and it was just below the low notch on the dip stick - currently at 24,808 Miles. No light had came on. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I’ve put 0.5L ...

Re: Anyone Had Their Parabolica Alloys Powder Coated/Painted?

It looks really smart on those motorsports! It is still in warranty, however, when I spoke to VW, they said that damage from stone chips or curbing would exempt the wheel from warranty! They are good shape other than stone chips... annoying. Like you, I wash my car regularly, polish + seal etc. It’s...

Anyone Had Their Parabolica Alloys Powder Coated/Painted?

I've babied my wheels since I owned the car.. but despite this, I've still got white worm from stone chips etc! I'm thinking of doing away with the diamond cut finish and getting them painted/powder coated instead. Someone with a Golf MK7 GTI has done this with their Santiago alloys and I think it l...

Re: New GTI

Ok, so I've had a REALLY annoying rattle coming from the glovebox area since I owned my GTI. It's been back to VW more times than I can remember for various rattles, but they could never fix this one. Fed up with it, I decided to try and fix it myself. I removed the glovebox, end of dash panel and p...

Re: Polo 6R 1.4 16V DSG 2012 Engine Tapping/Ticking Noise

Well, the earlier 9N Polos at least had a large filter/engine cover to stifle a bit of that noise - which was handy, these engine are reliable and tough though, just noisy and a bit greedy on fuel - when compared with the latest/later 1.0 and 1.2TSI engines, which also have many noises! That would ...

Re: Polo 6R 1.4 16V DSG 2012 Engine Tapping/Ticking Noise

Sounds pretty normal to me. These engines are quite loud due to having a high pressure fuel rail, and itll normally settle down once the oil has warmed a little and the engine is getting up to temperature. Thanks for the explanation. It was just the ticking that concerned me, but like you say it do...

Polo 6R 1.4 16V DSG 2012 Engine Tapping/Ticking Noise

Hi guys, My girlfriends Polo has been making a tapping/ticking noise for a while now. It's much louder on cold startup and settles down after about a minute or so. It drives and runs fine, no misfiring or roughness. Nor is there any excess oil/fuel usage. After searching around I've found many diffe...

Disabling dimming for instrument cluster?

Hi guys, The light sensor for the instrument cluster is doing my head in. Whenever the weather is a bit overcast, the instruments dim completely and I can barely see them. I understand why, but to me it just seems terribly executed. Has anyone figured out how to disable this feature via VCDS? I trie...

Re: New GTI

Hi guys.. I'm about to bite the bullet and fit some lowering springs to my car.. However, I'm a bit uncertain about the best springs to go for. What is everyone using on the new GTI? I've tried searching but there isn't much feedback on the ride quality.. I use it for a daily so don't want it to rid...

Re: New GTI

Same, but I work in the music industry and spend 14 hours a day listening to music, so I usually have it off or listen to radio 4 on the way home lol. I'll let you know if I get anywhere with VW UK..

Re: New GTI

They've fixed my rattly a-pillar and trip reset button fine. Just the glovebox, passenger door, b-pillars (which have been replaced already) and nsr trim to figure out next.......

Annoying because the car doesn't fail to put a smile on my face.

Re: New GTI

Andy, sounds like you've got a lot of the same rattles as me. I wrote to VW UK following the dealership attempting to fix it at least 4 times and they're taking the matter really seriously. Could be worth getting in contact.

Re: New GTI

I've got rattles coming from the glovebox/footwell and drivers side a-pillar.. Anyone else? It's been in to Colchester and Ipswich VW and both have heard the rattles, attempted to fix but now say they are as expected from a GTI. Seems like b/s to me. Maybe I'm just being pedantic..
