gti box

Hi Benno

Thanks for the reply, how many miles have you done on the new box and clutch? –are they still performing well?
Sounds obvious but I assume you got a rebuilt GTi box rather than a standard Polo box? (same ratios etc as original).

Cheers

Improving the shifting of the gti box??

Hi guys

It may have been discussed before but what can be done to improve the shifting of the polo gti gearbox, -original clutch is still going strong (touch wood) so wont look into upgrading that yet -shorter shifter kit etc??
VW re-alligned(?) the linkage rod a while ago which did nothing. When ...

Cheers for the replys,

Listened on the way home from work tonight and the droaning is non clutch related as depressing the clutch makes no difference, it is a progessively loud noise as the car cruises at higher speeds. Only way i can describe it is like a droaning/warble sound possibly coming from ...

Any tips/upgrades for cambelt tensioner?

Hello again

Forgot to ask if anyone has any tips or know of any upgrade parts for the cambelt tensioner -understand this is a potential weak point, gonna get my local garage to do it but thought i'd ask before ordering parts from German & Swedish.

Splitting and re-painting BBS wheels?

Hi
I’m going to re-spray my Polo GTi split rim BBS’s. Has anyone got any pointers with regards to splitting/re-assembling them? Taking them apart shouldn’t be a problem but re-assembly might be i.e., Is there a special order of bolt tightening and to what torque? –don’t want to over ...

It seems to be the rear pads making the noise. I stripped the assembly down taking the pads off and cleaned any flakey paint rust/dust off, applied lots of copper grease and its quieter but still making a bit of a squeal when warmed up.
Anyone else had this at all?

squealing noise from rear?

Hello all
Any ideas on the following;?
After a while from cold i'm getting an intermittent squealing noise from the rear (i think) which seems to have got worse. I'm guessing wheel bearings but should they start to play up after 32K?, if it is, is the rear assembly similar to a mk2 golf gti? (haynes ...

Thanks in advance! :?
