Hi so I'm tackling the swap over this week 8vgearbox into 16v.

I'll loose a bit top speed but can you change over the 5th gear!?

I believe you can get to 5th easy as its at the opposit end to the bell/clutch end. behind the plate close to the passenger side wheel?? Is this feasible!? Anyone done ...

Braw I'll stick the 8v in then. I might have a bash at reconditioning the 16v box as a wee messy project.

What do you think is the better gear box option?

I could change the intake manifold and throttle body to the gti one too. I think they are a straight swap for a couple o bhp!?!?

Hi sorry for being so super questiony but I've been offered a gti gearbox that be better than putting in the 8v one in egh. I know the gti one was recently rebuilt. The 8v is 90,000 miles old.

Kin I just use one from a 8v 1.4??
