Yeah I wouldn't bother if I were you!
I'm currently in the process of removing the raised floor as I find it completely pointless if you actually need boot space. I just bought the flexible boot liner from VW for the lower position and have removed the false floor board. Currently the flexible boot ...

Polo 6R 1.4 A/C whirring noise
Morning!
Over the past few months I've noticed that when the AC is on and I'm driving at low speed (approaching a junction/roundabout etc.) there is a loud whirring noise coming from the engine bay. It doesn't always happen though. I can be driving around with the AC on and no noise and it's ...

Re: polo 6r gti remap long term reliability ? remap or tuning box
Speaking from my own experience of remapping I would say reliability isn't a problem. Although picking a good tuner who has a lot of experience and customers with your engine is critical. You also want a tuner that offers good aftersales support and map customisation.

Re: Broken tabs on H7 headlamp units
Right, all sorted now. The repair kits from VW are great. I noticed they are made by Hella and the plastic is glass reinforced so should be more robust.
I easily snapped off the remaining tab by breathing on it. Then just cleaned up the edges with a very sharp scalpel. I tried a few ways of ...

Re: Broken tabs on H7 headlamp units
The original tabs are terrible! One of the inner ones just snapped off like it was nothing while removing the lamps today.
Will be fitting the repair kits I bought from VW tonight and cleaning out the units.
Currently trying to resist spending loads of money on Philips X-treme bulbs!

Re: erWin?
Yeah I used erwin years ago for some jobs I had to do on my Skoda. I paid for a few hours access I think and just downloaded as much as I could.
Did the job for me at the time and one of the most useful documents turned out to be an official vehicle jacking procedure, showing exactly where to jack ...

Re: Plastic Bags Containing Foam in Inner Wings
Just found these in my car after removing both headlamp units. Pulled them out as they were full of water! Can't be good for corrosion.
Part number is 5N0864725. Described as "Noise insulation. Foam. Side member." fitted to LH and RH wings.

Drivers seat creaking - 5 door 6R
Morning!
My drivers seat creaks/squeaks sometimes and it is really annoying. If I adjust the seat it goes away for a period of time and then comes back.
The locking position on the seat also feels a bit funny. I have to push back and forth a bit to get both rails to lock into position sometimes ...

RNS 310 comes with bluetooth and dab, you'd need a dab aerial dunno about placement though you might get away with it in the dash like the sat nav
I have the standard RCD310 in my 2011 Polo and the DAB aerial is stuck to the windscreen in the top LH corner (in the unswept area). I assume that's ...

Re: Crackling/popping sound from iPod - RCD310
What ipod is it? Older ipods with the 30 pin connector sometimes need the backlight turned off to stop the crackle
Yeah it's an old 5th Gen (the one with the pointless camera!) with the big connector.
After Googling a bit I read something about turning the volume down on the iPod. It was maxed ...

Crackling/popping sound from iPod - RCD310
I've got an iPod plugged into the cable in the glovebox and my car has the RCD310 unit.
Sound quality when using the DAB radio is fantastic and clear/loud. When when using the iPod it produces feint high pitched pops and cracks.
Is this a known issue? The cable is a genuine VW item. I'll try ...

Re: New owner - what boot equipment and any tips
Wow VW wanted £45.20 for the 8K0 860 251 warning triangle! Found a new one on ebay for £10.90 delivered so I've got one of those.
I think I might actually have one of those hooks in the garage somewhere from a previous vehicle. It'll be in a box somewhere, that I'll never find!

Your VW dealer will sell you an OEM repair kit as well
Yeah I spotted them while browsing ETKA this morning! Brilliant. The headlamp mouldings even have the holes in them already for the screws! Excellent forward planning from VW there.

Broken tabs on H7 headlamp units
Well I've discovered the first broken thing on the car I just bought! :(
The outermost attachment tabs on the headlight units are snapped. The one on the LH unit has broken clean off and the one on the RH unit has snapped and almost broken off.
It would also appear that someone changed a bulb ...

Found the correct warning triangle part number via ciclo's ETKA link. The ETKA image shows it being fitted in the correct place so it should work!
