Disconnect the battery for a while to reset the ECU. No hope? .... ....Replace temperature sensor Still no?... ....the VERY last option is the throttle body. I think that's the usual route by the looks of things on MK4s. Somewhere in between is the carb cleaner, and a Vag Com reprogram or something....

Quick Exhaust Question

Alreet! Am I right in thinking that all the exhaust layouts of the MK4s (inc. 16Vs)are the same? I think I read that somewhere, but not 100% sure if I made it up... Also, are they the same as a Gti (00-02)? The reason I'm asking is cause I've found my exhaust I wanted cheaper then Venom, but they're...

At a random garage, for a full service it will be somewhere around the £100 mark inc. parts, might be a bit more but I recall it being about 3 figures for a service. You can do most of it yourself if you feel happy to do so. A service from a main dealer on the otherhand, god knows, dread to think. ...

thanks for the replies guys, some interesting points there. the convienence factor of the car being local is the biggest winner at the mo, insurance isn't much of a factor as she's on the cheaper side of 25. i guess the answer is to take it out for a spin. i hope it isn't slower than the cinq :( Ho...

When I removed mine I used a hair dryer and a short length of fishing wire. I heated the side strips and used the fishing wire in a sawing motion between the strip and the door. There will always be sticky residue left on the door. I used petrol on a cloth to remove it. wash, tcut, wax. Cheers. Exa...

I have a '95 1.3, full VW history serviced reguarly and the only engine mods I've got is a RamAir induction kit. I get roughly 270 miles to £37 of petrol, but I do have a heavy foot and a half. I reckon if I tried, I could get over 300, but where's the fun in that. I do only mostly town driving as ...
