Re: Handbrake update

I think he maybe slips the clutch a bit cos he’s used to driving a van so not used to how poor the polo is at low revs but he swears not! It’s happened twice to me - when I was reversing uphill round a corner (with hindsight a 3 point turn might have been easier) and then turning off the main road ...

Handbrake update

Got car in June last year and found the handbrake to be very poor - in fact it didn’t hold on a hill and when you live in Yorkshire that’s not great. Went back to dealer who said the wrong cables had been fitted and replaced them.
To be honest, it was better but not brilliant and a couple of times ...

Re: 115ps 1.0L Review / Discussion

Glad it’s not just me that’s found that Andy! Love it when the turbo kicks in but I turn off the main road onto a side road with a slight incline in 2nd on my way to work and the car crawls to almost a stop. My husband thinks the clutch is slipping hence the burning smell and has booked it in to the ...

Sluggish?

Just wondered if this is normal? I've got a 95TSI and done about 500 miles in it. I appreciate that I had a 1.4 Golf before this but the polo is so slow at low revs. There's a corner on a slight incline on my way to work which I take quite slowly (to allow for the idiot back street boy racers) and ...

Re: Recall - rear seat belt

Yes, just tried it and got the 'good news, no safety recall required for your vehicle'

Re: Recall - rear seat belt

I've had the same letter and I've only had the car 6 weeks so assumed the seatbelt issue would have been fixed before I took delivery. The recall website says there are no outstanding recalls for my car but the letter says otherwise! Wonder if they've still got my Golf?........

Re: Handbrake

That is exactly how it tells you to park in the user manual but doesn't mention the duster!

Re: Handbrake

Hmm. There's definitely something amiss with these handbrake cables. Mine was too easy to pull on and didn't hold on even the slightest of inclines when pulled up to the absolute max but was either missed or ignored on the pre handover check.
Perhaps VW are wise to the issue now and over tightening ...

Re: How much deposit did you pay ?

My local dealer matched carwow. I had £1005 extras - reef blue metallic paint, different alloys (to keep hubby quiet because he wanted energetic orange!) and parking sensors. Paid £1000 deposit

Re: Handbrake

Just picked the car up and it seems ok. The handbrake is sitting a lot lower but still needs a good pull to hold on a steep hill - perhaps I'll have to move to somewhere flatter!
Apparently it needed a 'modified' brake cable and the dealers had had a couple back with the same problem. Well at least ...

Re: Handbrake

Took car back to dealership and they've just rung to say it needs new handbrake cables! Hope the new ones last longer than 4 weeks!

Re: Handbrake

Thankyou for the advice. It pulls up 2 clicks quite high up and a 3rd if I really pull it. Not found any gravel pits to play in on the way home but no doubt if I did I would have a plethora of warning symbols to look up when I got home 😜
I've emailed the salesman and he's told me to book it in for ...

Handbrake

Ok. I know I have hill start but this was a very steep hill and I'm new to this modern technology ( had a 2004 Golf before the Polo) so I pulled the handbrake on. I've noticed that even on a slight incline I have to give it an extra yank but the car rolled back even after that. Luckily the hill ...
