Re: Polo 2011 boot (tailgate) issue.
Do you hear any activity when you press the keyboard or VW symbol? I have a problem with my 2015 6c version where it seems to trigger the opening mechanism but the boot stays closed. I have to have a few goes at it. I think the rubber seal is a bit 'sticky' and needs to unseal which can be problemat...

Re: Recommended auto light switch
Saw a lot of posts about using this switch: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001566467260.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.44043c00wpiIRo&mp=1 on the VW T5, it's the same connector as the Polo's.. Maybe it's less buggy then the Bluetooth one? That looks like the one I have. So you are basically sayin...

Re: Recommended auto light switch
I'm not sure what the intended function of the coming/leaving is although the lights do stay on for a few seconds after the car is locked and when the car is unlocked. I think that is what you mean? The only unintended side-effect is that when the light drops below the standard darkness threshold th...

Re: Recommended auto light switch
I installed the non-bluetooth version in my 2015 GTi. Dead easy to install and I've left it on auto since then and not thought about it. I would recommend.

Re: Head Unit Help
I have a 2015 GTi and the head unit is great, has hands-free, allows me to control iPod touch etc. However, integration of Android Auto is not possible. There are other head units which have feature which can be unlocked but unless this ordered prior to first delivery, the ability to add this sees t...

Re: New owner
The best phone holder I found is magnetic (no good if you have wireless charging) as it clips to the air vent https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0777K25JM It you clip it to the bottom 'rung' of the vent it stays put as the weight of the phone pulls the vent downwards until it hits the bottom. It w...

Re: Delaying Servicing due to Covid19
I recently used this site https://bookmygarage.com/secret-service/ ...which allowed me to book a major service and MOT for my 6C for around £200. There was an additional £8 for collecting and delivering my car but they didn't charge it in the end. The service was actually carried out by my local VW ...

Re: LED interior lights
I replaced all of my interior lights with LED for not very much money. I posted links and stuff here https://uk-polos.net/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=69660&start=15#p549258 The links might not let you order but the details are there. I've probably got a load in the garage which I could get rid of...

Re: My Polo 6C GTI upgrade
When I shutdown I get like a whine coming from engine/behind dash almost a water pump kind of noise, it sounds normal would just like to know what it is. I get that too. I figured that it was the CANBUS system staying powered up for a little while until it powers down through inactivity. I'm probab...

Re: Interior LED Lighting
I decided to take a chance at ordering cheap replacements to see if they worked. They did work and it cost very little. There were 2 types of bulb which I got from Aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32812707410.html https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32839635552.html (out of stock but you get t...

Re: Removing foglight surrounds on 6C
I removed mine with the hook and can confirm that it is a poor design and that a lot of force was needed. However, they didn't break which seemed surprising at the time. My GTi is a 2015 MY and I removed them about a year ago, in cold weather from memory. Whether any of that makes a difference is an...

We all call them wing mirrors as they used to be mounted on the wing and the name stuck. 'Door mirrors' obviously makes more sense but old habits die hard...

Re: Is 35,000 miles too much for a 17 plate?
I've got a 2015 GTi with 42k on the clock. Given the choice I would have a 2017 with the same mileage as long as there was a full service history. Big mileage in a short period usually suggests motorway driving which should not stress the engine too much although you will have to be vigilant when in...
