Re: Panoramic Roof Rattle
I have had the same issue for a few months on my 2020 Polo GTI. Mine sounds like a squeak when going over bumps or rough roads. I’ve learned to live with it. But becomes annoying when I think about it.

Re: 2 DQ250 DSG Questions
Thanks Boet!!
I’m located in Pretoria, Gauteng and I’ve had good experiences with the Hatfield VW group although their products and services are pricier than other VW groups.
Ahh the infamous dash rattle. Seems to be a common issue with these smaller VW cars. Just like the handbrake rattle 😂.

Re: 2 DQ250 DSG Questions
Thank you so much guys for the friendly responses.
The car was serviced 2 weeks ago. I’ll go to my nearest dealer and have it checked. I just hope I can replicate the jolting. I’ve often had trouble replicating a specific issue at the dealer because cars tend to behave when it’s time to show the ...

2 DQ250 DSG Questions
Hey guys.
I recently purchased a 2020 Polo GTI with 50k km’s on the clock with its full service history. I’ve had it for 6 months now (What an impressive upgrade from my 1.0 R Line manual)
First question is that I’ve noticed that on some instances, there’s a jolt when taking off from standstill ...

Pre-Facelift GTI
Hi Guys.
I am currently driving a 2019 1.0 TSI R-Line Polo with 160k km’s as my daily.
I intend on getting a weekend performance car such as an RS3 or Lexus RCF V8 in about 2 years time.
I just test drove the GTI Pre-Facelift for the first time and I am at a crossroads.

Re: Wet cambelt
It uses a lubricated rubber toothed cambelt. The official documentation says it’ll last the “life of the engine”. Some say that “life” is 240k KM’s. I saw somewhere on some document regarding EA211 engines, your safest bet is to check it every 30k KM’s and change it every 120k KM’s as it is an ...

Re: Remap 2018 Polo Beats 95
My 1.0 Tsi 70KW/175NM is going out of Warranty soon and I’m thinking of cleaning the intake valves and remapping it to at least roughly the same power as the 85kW/200Nm variant. I did a lot of research on the engine and found that the parts are identical except the latter uses sodium filled exhaust ...

Re: Suspected Throw-Out Bearing Noise
Thanks man.
I guess it’s the same T’s and C’s here in South Africa. But I’ll take my chances with them but I think I know what their response will be based on my previous experiences with VW SA.

Suspected Throw-Out Bearing Noise
Hi guys.
I drive a 2019 95ps R-Line with a 5 speed manual. I have around 73.5k KM (46k miles in the Queen’s English) on the car and the car is 2 years and 7 months old.
I recently started hearing a “whirling” sound when I take off (the sort of sound you get when you slowly drag a chair across a ...

Re: 1.0 115bhp - Racechip
Hi
I've now got a Seat Ibiza FR Sport 115 which is the same engine as the Polo 1.0 115 so hoping for an answer on here.
Has anyone fitted a Racechip GTS to their Polo as i'm looking for a plug and play as i've still got 2 years warranty remaining so don't want to void that.
Racechip claim the ...

Dogbone Insert
Hi guys.
I'm thinking of installing a Dogbone insert onto my R-Line Manual. Does anyone have one installed and if so, which kind? (Type A or B). For those who have one, will it also help with my car's horrendous wheel-hop and improve the shifting feel?
Thanks.

Re: Long Term Ownership.
I own the 1.0 TSI R-Line
The only three things I'd complain abut are:
1. Sandpaper Wipers - Common issue.
2. Perhaps my biggest issue - Rattle/tractor-like noise from the gearbox side from second gear onwards under acceleration (both dealers[Hatfield and Bidvest] says it's normal for three cylinder ...

Re: Quirks & Features
One that i discovered recently is that if you reverse while your wipers are on, your rear wiper will activate automatically.
If your driver door is open, your car is off and your lights are on the standard beam, you can move the indicator stalk to either side to switch on the front and rear ...

Re: Clunking noise when changing gears.
I have a GTI with DSG and mine clunks sometimes at low revs when im manual shifting, sounds like engine mounts or CV joints taking up slack
Also if I accelerate from too low revs in too high gear I get a rattle like the whole transmission is rattling. Mines only 4 months old and done 2,000 miles ...

Clunking noise when changing gears.
Hi guys.
Has anyone experienced a clunking noise when changing gears? I have a 1.0 tsi manual rline. Upon browsing, I've read that it could be related to some mountings. I also suspect the rattling noise upon acceleration is related.
I took it to VW the last service and I was told it's just normal ...
