Honestly that sort of MPG sounds about right, assuming you had things like AC on, windows open, other things that can decrease mpg or were carrying 1/2 passengers.

I have a Polo BlueGT too and if I was going to fit mudflaps I'd probably go for some rally style ones, especially if it's not getting lowered.
